Ideally I wanted our parents on the top table with us, but we would have just our parents and not their current partners... whilst no one would have a problem with that and they would do it if that is what we wanted, we found it easier to fit everyone in without a traditional top table. So at the moment we're looking at having a sweetheart table and sitting parents with their partners on normal tables xx

Mrs M it doesn't seem fair to exclude one set of parents because of money. It's about them supporting you through your life and bringing you up and saying thanks for that as much as any wedding contribution.

They've got until end of jan/ beginning of feb as that's when the invites go out

Sat and made a quick wedding playlist of ideas this afternoon.. We basically decided we'd short list all the songs we quite like for our first dance and then make a decision from the list then hace the rest playing quietly in the back ground for our wedding breakfast

Sounds like you had a great day at the wedding fair Paula! When I took my bms to the last one at our venue, our photographer was there and did a tour of where all the best photos could be taken. So pleased we picked him becsuse he really knows his stuff.

I've had a productive day by booking a hair trial (fingers crossed work lets me have the time off) and getting what I think is a great quote for flowers (see my other post). And I booked and paid the deposit for the hen do - one of my bms was going to do it but we decided it would be easier for me to bother people for money rather than her feeljng awkward with chasing people she doesn't know. Yay spa break! X

How much are you ladies spending on gifts for your bridesmaids and what are you buying them? I'm thinking of just a personalised pocket mirror, champagne glass and glass plaque with a photo of the day and their dress hangers in which totals about £30 is this enough? We're buying their dresses at £215 each and i am paying for hair and makeup and things too but they all want very different shoes so I said they can just get their own so theyre comfy .. Should I be buying them more expensive gifts or is it the thought that counts?

Really? I thought that was a fairly standard dress price .. Although the dress we originally chose was £155 so suppose it is considerably more but they do look beautiful .. Makes me feel a bit better about the cheaper gift options in that case! The gifts still look lovely just don't break the bank!

So far I have spent just over £20 per bridesmaid and am doing them gift bags filled with lots of little things, the majority of which will be in their particular colour as they are all wearing different colours. So far I've got them bath bombs, bath oils, yank33 candle, nail varnish, thank you plaques and personalised wine glasses. Will probably get them a couple more bits. I've bought them jewellery to wear on the day which works out at £11.50 per bridesmaid. Oh and they have their hangers too which would have worked out at about £1 each?

I think £30 per bridesmaid is more than enough, particularly considering the amount you're spending on their dresses. 2 of my dresses were only £35 each and the other two £70 each, and I'm not paying for their hair, make-up or shoes either xx

hi everyone! im Charlotte... im new here :) congratulations on your weddings so i feel like going into a meltdown... me and my other half got engaged in feb this year we planned on getting married im 2017 as it was going to be pretty costly as we live in Yorkshire and are getting married in Peterborough where most of our guests will be as i dont have alot of family. Anyway to put things bluntly my partners nan doesnt have very long and he wants her there for the wedding so we decided to get married next September (possibly 24th) we are both out of work atm with 3 children iv set a budget of £5000 please tell me ladies is this gonna be possible? its reacking my head!! Also is there any budgeting tips anyone can give?

So far we've got my partners auntie to do us an evening buffet and someone is making us the cake at a cheaper price :)

Really hope someone can help me, thanks for reading! xxx

    Hi Charlotte and welcome

Don't stress 5000 is defo plenty to organise a wedding on, DIY will be your friend - Invites, centre pieces, favours etc these can all be done cheaply, look in outlet stores for your dress or shops that have sample dresses for sale you will save a fortune.

Having an evening buffet make it for all your guests cut out the wedding breakfast and have your ceremony a bit later in the day, cut out arrival drinks, booking at short notice you may save some money on venue costs and having a weekday wedding or a fri or sunday always knocks money of the cost too xx

Hi ladies! I hope everyone's plans are coming along nicely. Guess what? I'm back in the 2016 club! You're all going to think I'm mental. Changed my date more times that my knickers! Hahahaha.

Long story short... we can't wait until 2017. H2B's parents and my Nan are both in their 80s. My Nan has cancer. We want them to be with us. Also, we have decided on a church wedding. Not a traditional one... no hymns or prayers. Our vicar is amazing and so in touch with today. All our music will be exactly the same as they were going to be in a civil ceremony. Just need to provide a CD.

So... our wedding date is finally, officially confirmed! 18th August 2016!! Eeeek!!! 10 months to sort the entire wedding. Game on!
