When are you sending away your form? I will be renewing mine next year in my married name too! Ive been looking online and im sure its 3 months before the wedding? is that right? xx

CommentAuthorMrs M Wade
I'm not sure. I read on the paperwork you can renew a passport up to 9 months before it expires and the time from the old passport will be added to the new one.
I'm getting confused with it though. As I'm going to apply for a renewal in married name do I put my married name on my LO passport as it says give parents full names?

CommentAuthorSarah D
I thought you could only change your name to your married name 3 months before and then it isn't valid until the wedding day xx

I read this before -
Post dated passports A woman or man who is to marry and is planning to travel abroad immediately after their wedding may apply for a post dated passport to be issued to them in advance in their future married name. An application may be received up to three months before the day of the wedding and a standard passport, of full validity, issued with effect from the date of marriage. A woman or man, if they wish, can travel on a current passport in their maiden name immediately after the wedding. Where this is known (either from the application or covering letter) the applicant should be advised to carry their marriage certificate and consult a representative of the country to which they wish to travel in case a passport in their maiden name is not considered valid by that country. An applicant applying for a passport in a future married name must submit, in addition to the appropriate supporting documents and photographs, a completed Form PD2 (available from application form outlets and Regional Offices). The application form must be signed in the future married name. NOTE: Applicants for post-dated passports ought to have been made aware at the time they booked their travel that certain countries (e.g. Australia) will not put visas in post-dated passports. Where a marriage is postponed due to the illness of either party or, the death of an immediate member of either family (i.e. mother, father, brother, sister) and a new travel date is arranged, a "gratis" replacement post-dated passport may be issued. Before the replacement document is issued corroborative evidence of the illness or the death must be obtained. Applicants whose weddings are brought forward, postponed for other reasons, or cancelled, must pay the fee for a replacement passport. The current process for a woman taking the husband's name upon marriage is that they produce the marriage certificate as evidence; this process also applies when a husband upon marriage is taking the wife’s name or a when civil partner upon a civil partnership ceremony is taking their partner’s name. As the link of the names would be evident on the marriage/civil partnership certificate, examiners would not need to request a change of name deed.

3. Getting married or entering a civil partnership
Decide whether to change your name before or after the ceremony. The name on your passport must be the same one you use when you book your travel.
Before the ceremony
You can change the name on your passport up to 3 months before the ceremony. Your old passport will be cancelled.
The new passport is ‘post-dated’ - this means you can’t use it before the ceremony.
Some countries won’t issue visas for post-dated passports - check with the country’s consulate.
You must send a ‘passports for newly weds and civil partners’ form signed by the religious minister or registrar who will conduct the ceremony, with your application.
Read the guidance notes for help.

Thanks ladies. Just phoned the passport office up for OH passport as we can't find it so got to get another form for him too.
Is it 3 months before the wedding I have to give the form to the vicar then? Sorry if I'm being thick. Would be so much easier to just renew in maiden name but then I've got it for the next 10 years
Became Mrs Wade 06/08/2016
CommentAuthorSarah D
Yeah you will need a form filled in by the vicar like I will need one from the registrar, if your not going away until your honeymoon there is no harm in renewing it until 3 months before the wedding. that's why I didn't renew mine this year as I we aren't going away this year and wont be until our honeymoon or I would be stuck with it in my maiden name too xx

Booked our videographer yesterday and just ordered a wedding sign in the shape of an arrow to let people know where the church is as it's tucked away and can't be seen from the road. I've also ordered a sign to have at the church saying choose a seat not a side as we all become family once the knot is tied :)

Off to my second dress shop saturday, i'm excited to try on some more dresses, the first shop had such a gorgeous dress i'm gonna need to find a pretty special one to compete with it! I'm kind of hoping I don't though so it makes it an easy choice to make! Xx

So we've had a very productive week off doing wedding bits and bobs!
We have bought/ordered our centre pieces.. funnily enough we went back to the birdcage idea after putting a few bits together in the r@ng3 and thinking the bits looked fab together. To be honest it's the total opposite of what we originally had in mind! Having bird cages with tea lights inside and then two tall candle sticks and candles either side. Got some gems to scatter around the tables and we have wooden hearts with 'Love' written on them to scatter too, not sure if these will go now but we will see!
Candle stick holders, candles and bird cages:

Got this which I think we're going to put on our sweetheart table:

Made the buttonholes and hangers yesterday, really really chuffed with the buttonholes especially!

We went to Bristol yesterday and OH popped into T3d B@k3r to look at the suit he'd seen online.. he thinks it may the "the one" so we're going back on Saturday with his mum so he can try it on properly and potentially buy it! She's offered to pay/contribute so he wanted her to be there. I'm not allowed to see it though so will have to make myself scarce for a while!
Also ordered some pocket watches last night for the groomsmen and my dad, now looking online for some jewellery for the girls. All very exciting xx
Happily married

Well done Flossie you have done loads!!
Me and OH were just chatting about the wedding over a cuppa. We are gonna go soon and look around different places for rings but think we have decided on the ones we seen on Monday. Gonna order them in next few weeks. Going to buy bridesmaids dresses, book flowers and hopefully get my veil and head piece in the sale. August was a very bad month for us money wise with very little money saved for wedding so going to have to dip into savings account to pay deposits. We think we are going to leave booking honeymoon until the new year so we can get that stuff out of the way then concentrate on Xmas. Feeling a bit overwhelmed at the minute about finances!
