    Hi all,
I thought I would reach out and see If there was anyone else from the Bedfordshire area getting married. I just recently moved to Luton from London, so I am finding it difficult to find everything which is needed for a wedding in the area.

    Getting married on 15th August.

Were narrowed our venue down to venue 360, but I found out today that decorating the venue is not included in the price, so now I a trying to find a company who will do this for us in the area for a reasonable price. (And its giving me nightmares lol)

I live in Bedfordshire but am getting married in Warwickshire as that's where I'm originally from and where the family still is. There were a number of events companies at a wedding show recently at Knebworth House but unfortunately I didn't get any of their details.
Is your venue able to recomend anyone? If not try and head to a nearby wedding show and there should be events companies you can talk to.

I live in Bedfordshire, born and bred, but I'm getting married in Cambridgeshire.. The only thing I can think off it looking on the net and typing it in. I'm pretty sure there should be a good place in Luton that would do the decorations? If not Bedford should have some places around? X

I'm also living in Luton at the moment (I study at the uni) but am getting married in Norfolk so cant be much help on the supplier front. But I'm sure if you google it you will find someone :) Have you tried asking the venue if they can recommend anyone? They might know of someone who has decorated it before xxx

I'm at the uni too!! I'm living in Dunstable!

I'm marrying in Eaton Bray then having the do in Stanbridge which is near leighton buzzard. Go on to the book of face and look for local companies that decorate venues, i know a few as i have flyers from the local wedding fairs. If you need a cake i can help too!

I found out last minute so I am going to the wedding fayre at the venue on Sunday to talk to the event people I booked with and their suppliers.

It is just not what you need really when you think you are checking off on the list. :(

Cakes....I do need to find a cake maker, I was thinking of having 3 different flavours.

If you can't find a venue dresser i know a company on the book of face that can dress venues for a good price too xxx

There will be cake markers at the wedding fair (with samples) and they'll be able to creat whatever kind of cake you want... but don't be afraid to ask around for the best prices.

Yeah that's what I am trying to do @ Showgirl as the venue are trying to push their own suppliers but they are not really the best.

Do you think its ok to have 3 different cake flavours (one for each layer)?

Yes, different flavours allow the guests a variety and not everyone likes the same flavour!
I'm having 4 different flavours, my mum is doing my cake and i've told her to go nuts and create me something amazing. I completely trust her as she's so passionate about what she does! People are going to be spoiled!

Chocolate and vanilla champagne cake, that one is soooooooo yummy, i get to eat a lot of cake lol!! I love carrot cake so one of my cakes with be that, i also want a plain sponge and i'll be having white chocolate ganache with strawberry/raspberry filling too. Possibly chocolate orange or chocolate mint aero but the possibilites are endless haha, i think we'll be coming up with plenty new flavours on the run up to the big day.
As for fruit i may just have a small one just for cutting up instead of including it in my actual cake just to keep the older ones coming happy!

The Italian rum was so yummy it was like a sponge cake, the cream was so nice against the sponge.

White Chocolate Mud Cake, with lots of Belgian chocolate or Baileys with a baileys cream...mmmm

I love the sound of white chocolate and vanilla champagne cake mmm

We're inviting kids but I already know the best man will be leaving his 3 with their aunt because he and his OH want to just relax and enjoy themselves and not worry about the little ones. I'm pretty sure my cousin will be bringing her one and a half (currently expecting; and deliberately conceived in time to arrive just before the pre-wedding blessing ceremony but I won't get into that). Not sure if the other parents are planning on bringing their bundles of joy along or not.

Out of my 150 people I am counting 26 children under 10. I love my sister, I discussed this with her last night. Her response was if you go out you bring your child's bottle, nappies etc. usually you also bring what keeps them the quietest as to have no scenes. So why am I expected to provide this now. Lol

I just realised its much easier than I thought as the church service is @ 2 so in fact by the time we get to venue it's food, cake, and dancing.

Is anyone opening the floor for their speeches? I've restricted mine, I didn't want people baffling on for hours lol plus most of my other half's family can't speak English so we are having to translate everything so minimal seems the best way to go.

We're considering having an open floor for speeches but mainly because OH doesn't really want to give a speech and there will be a number of people attending who are really good public speakers and the longer we can draw out the speeches, the more time the venue has to clear a couple of tables from the dancefloor and get the DJ set up.
