Have any of you fellow brides to be considered making a speech yourself? I have been thinking about it more and more recently as there are a lot of special thank you's I would like to make - particularly to my parents, my in-laws, h2b and my bridesmaids. I would make my speech after everyone else has made theirs.. do you think it would be too much after h2b, my dad and our 2 best men have made their speeches, or do you think it would top it off nicely coming from a bride's perspective? x

    Hey Mrs P to be,

Yes I have considered getting up to say a few words, even though I'm shy and the thought scares me a little!! But I would like to say a small speech, even if it was just a few sentences, thank yous etc.
Ive never been to a wedding where the bride makes a speech and I think it would be lovely and refreshing for the bride to get up and say a few words :-). So go for it!! It would make a lovely change and and not too much at all. x

If I can find some balls I would love to make a speech to thank everybody for coming and the special people who have made our day happen. I honestly think it's a little unfair that the best man gets to recall memories of the groom and share them on the big day so I am also going to get my MoH to say a few words too.

I will be saying a speech for a number of reasons with the main ones being the fact my mum won't be there and if she was I know she would of said something and another reason is my H2B can't keep me quiet now so married life won't be much different lol x

H2B has asked me to make a speech and I have a few personal thank yous to make. I read in a magazine that the bride does her speech after the groom and before the best man

I'm not much of a public speaker and I'm not one for everyone looking at me (except the walking down and first dance which I'm already terrified about!) I would like to though but I'll be enjoying everyone else's speeches instead x

I will definitely be making a speech but mainly because other than for my OH and BMs I really want to show my MIL how much she means to me and how much she has been there for me since I met her son. Both my parents walked out of my life when I was a teen and never had any good examples of kindness aimed at me much let alone guidance to stand on my own two feet until this woman.

I'm also planning on doing something special for her. The photographer that took their wedding photos didn't process them properly and because of this they weren't protected from sun damage and even the ones kept in near darkness have all bleached and just their luck the photographers studio burned down before they could get the film :-( so my OH and I are hoping (with the help of his Dad) to pinch one of the pictures of them on their wedding day and get a new one made digitally corrected. Yes it would be a little pricey but it's worth it and I plan to give this to her either during the speech or when we're on our own.

I think everyone will be expecting me to do one cos I am a bit of a talker and I love a bit of public speaking, but for that exact reason I am not doing it. I don't want the speeches going on too long and I really don't want to add to my list of things to do in the lead up to the wedding. All the thank yous will be covered by my h2b and I don't want to detract from his. I can see why others would want to do it though :)

Wow, I didn't realise so many people would be making speeches :) I know h2b and his 2 best men would cover everything and thank everyone they needed to, but I feel I want to say something more personal that comes from me, rather than being spoken from other people. I especially want to thank my parents and let them know how much they both mean to me (they are being very generous with the wedding which I will be eternally grateful for) and I want to say a special thank you to my FMIL and FFIL which I think would just be much nicer coming from my own mouth xx

Although I won't be making a speech as I would end up a blubbering mess, I think it's a really good idea! You don't often see brides making speeches so it would be good to hear things from the bride's point of view :) x

I once went to a wedding where the bride spoke after the groom, and in all honesty she should have spoken instead of the groom. As a trained singer she is an excellent public speaker, whereas he really didn't do well. I'm not speaking, as the three traditional ones will be enough for us, but if you want to speak I think it would be lovely.

I'm quite surprised how many of you will be making a speech.

For me personally its a big no, I hate public speaking and just don't want to put myself through that - I will have enough stress and nerves to deal with to add a speech too. I will just sit with a glass of bubbly enjoying watching the men squirm!
