I have booked my photographer and his package started from 'Arrivals'. There is the option to add on the preperation for £60. Originally I said I wouldn't bother because I wasn't that fussed on having them done... In fact h2b then joked that nobody wants to see me pre-make up as it'd ruin the album! Nice!
But now I'm wondering whether I should go for it. I think i'm more worried that if I don't get those pics i'll wish I did. Money isn't the issue really, probably more unease at being snapped in my pjs pre-slap. What do you ladies think? Is it worth it?

To me the bridal prep isnt so much me getting ready its more the photographer capturing the little details like my dress hanging in a tree or my shoes and perfume on a log or my rings in my bouquet, that sort of thing and as I LOVE the little details the bridal prep to me is ESSENTIAL lol. If money isnt an issue I say go for it because like I said its not always just about the bride pre make up its also prep of other things and if you get a story book photo album these pictures can make STUNNING background pictures to you and your new husband!

Our photographer is for 5 hours, so we can choose when that starts. At the moment, i don't want photos of the preperations as i'd rather use that extra hour for the actual wedding. If you can afford to add it on, go for it. Have a look at some prep photos or ask your photographer to show you some that he has done and it'll probably put your mind at ease xxx

It's entirely up to you and what you're comfortable with. I had them done for my album and I love the pics (got them done for husband too).
As the bride, you get final say over the pictures. So you could always get the photos done and just veto any pictures you aren't happy about. Photographers are experts with using light to get the best photo, so you might be pleasantly surprised. Just let them know if there are any angles you prefer them to leave out (e.g. if you think your right side looks better or you don't like shots taken from above)
But if you're not comfortable being photographed pre-make-up, then you don't have to do it. It's never been an issue for me because I only wear make-up when I absolutely have to. Mostly I go without. I did shower and get dressed (not my dress, obviously, the bride-to-be outfit my friends bought for me) before he arrived so he didn't get any Me To You pyjamas in shot, lol.
i am having bridal prep photos. i love the detailed shots of the shoes and lacing the dress my photographer does some get pictures like this and he said these pictures are some of his favourite hes great at capture moments you would usually see and he said i wont even notice hes there. wont be having any with out makeup though i have seen pictures of the bride with full make up and looks like shes applying blusher they looked good to she was looking in the mirror and photographer was behind her so you saw her back and the front was through the mirror.
just tell him you don't want pictures before your make up is on if thats whats worrying you
Me too, I'm having them. I think it's nice to be able to look back and remember how you felt! (hopefully excited)

Oh I might do it then! Those are lovely pics Krissy. I think I might regret not getting them. £60 isn't that much and they would be nice to look back on. Especially as I can easily just pick the best ones for the album etc.
I agree Hails, it'd be nice to caputure the shoes and perfume etc for memories :-) Thanks girls!

Some of my favourite wedding photo's are prep shots. As long as you have a good photographer then they shouldn't intrude on your morning too much.

I've just emailed to ask if I can take him up on the add-on now after all. My mum had said she'd take the pics (she's pretty good at photography) but I want her to be relaxing and enjoying the morning, and actually IN the pics!
Thank you for helping me make my mind up ladies! x

Oh to be honest it's not that I was too bothered about having my pic taken in my pjs and with no make up (although I won't want any photos of me looking too rough!) I'm sure my photographer will be discrete. It's more whether they were really necessary to have taken and would I regret not getting them done. I'd imagine i'd only include a couple in the album so wasn't sure it was worth the money or effort but I get all the pics to keep and treasure even if they don't go in the album. So think it is worth it for the memories. x

Absoloutely you should bother. The getting ready/bridal prep is the only part of the wedding day that the groom will not be a part of. The only evidence you will have of this is the photos, so for that reason alone, they need to be spot on to capture every detail. I for one, cannot wait to see lizzies bridal prep potos, and i know she will want to see my getting ready photos as well.
If you skimp on it, I really do think you will regret not getting it done afterwards. And once its gone, it's gone.

It's also good if you have anything special planned for the morning- for me, it was presenting my bridesmaids with their gifts (I bought them all matching necklaces). Also my photographer caught a good shot of me walking out of the dressing room in my wedding dress, which I love!
