As a wedding photographer myself, when i take bridal portraits i usually do them the morning of the wedding...or whenever she is dressed. I take her into her garden or wherever, and take as many as i have time for. then after the ceremony and i have done all the group shots etc, i take the couple to one side and take some of them both together, and again i will take some portraits of the bride alone.
Across the pond in America, they have a bridal session a few weeks before the wedding day, and then some of them have photographs of the bride enlarged to display at the reception.....I think this is weird.....its not about the Bride, its about them both surely?
But anyway i AM having portaits done a week or so before my wedding. Not because i want to display them at the reception though, but i think they will be more time and a more relaxed atmosphere. its just me, and my son is taking the photographs as he too is a photographer. we are going to a place close to us where there is a pretty bridge and waterfall, and i just want pictures there because its so beautiful, and this will also save time on the day. and if its bad weather on my wedding day then at least i will know i have some portraits to go into the album anyway.
Then after we get back from honeymoon, my son has asked if we can do a 'rock the dress' session to which i am very up for. I dont like the idea of trash the dress, but maybe doing something nice in my dress, maybe walking on the beach, or sitting amongst flowers on the ground.....all the things we wouldnt do on our wedding day. I am SO going to get my moneys worth out of this dress before its cleaned and packed away.! LOL
Anyone else doing Bridal portraits?
I can resist anything but temptation

We're having a pre-wedding session next month but this will be couply pictures with a more urban feel, around city landmarks etc wearing just everyday clothes as opposed to our wedding outfits - we want to get comfortable with our photographer and also have some really funky looking shots of the two of us - after the wedding we've had 3 offers to do a cherish the dress session which isn't as drastic as a trash the dress shoot, we're thinking of doing that nearer where we live on the Bristol Channel, where the sand is really dark grey and we can have barefoot shots of me in my dress - H2B will have to wear a normal suit rather than the tails we're hiring him for the wedding day but I think it'll be fun - plus I want to have extra pics in the dress while I still fit into it!! :-)

were having a pre wedding shoot at the place we met, the local icerink also the guy doing our piccies his wife used to work on reception so technically she knew us at the start of our relationship and shes seeing us being married. i havent decided if i wanna go on the ice yet will see how i feel when i get there........
the best pic is going on a frame for the guests to sign while they have a drink while we go and get the pics done. were getting that as a freebie as a gift from the photographers.

I am not sure I have suggested to OH a few days ago about a photoshoot before wedding but he's not up for it at the moment, so he will need convincing I guess.
Soon to be Mrs Gary Doublé
Everything is now booked
Getting really stressed and excited now
We're also having (I hope!) a pre-wedding session to loosen up h2b and admittedly I take any opportunity to be photographed - god that sounds awful but I do like it. And the outcome mainly :-)
I'll also do a Boudoir shoot though not the usual one and hopefully a Rock The Frock - though this would be back home in Austria and I haven't quite figured out when I'm going and how to get the dress there. Might do it with my other dress and the hat I have. Let's see.
These are all with different photographers.

I'm having some girly shots done on the morning with my Bridesmaids. I love the town I work in, and it looks stunning on pictures, so we'll have some shots of me and my bridesmaids walking down the street to church.
We're having a rock the frock at the annual May Fair that comes to town.
We're also having an engagement shoot, but we want one with a difference. I want a juxtaposition between industrial building and pretty dresses/linen suits. H2b wasn't too keen on the clothing, so I had a chat with him last night and said we'd do whatever he wanted. Perhaps it was the wrong night to pick, as Skins was on. He wants to do a Skins style shoot that incorporates the buildings that I want, but it a bit more edgy. I'm now looking for a graffitied skate park, and abandoned chemical works and a view over a river with an industrial bridge - all in the same area.
