Hi guys, really need some help from some soon to be brides or newly weds! Me and my hubby to be have booked a venue and church for 19th July 2014 we have also booked our photographer cos he was doing a special off and got a right bargain!! :-) our save the date also arrived this morning and our colour theame is purple!, everyone iv spoke to have told me its taken them the best side of 2/3 years to plan their weddings, and iv only got just over a year! Our budget is £8000 what shall I start doing next? Is it too early to sort out grooms suites? Rings? Ect?

I also want to try and do my own favours for my guests, cheap, cheerful and creative! Any help or ideas would be much appreciated!

    Thankyou :-) xxx

Hello we organised our wedding in 8 months and have 2 more to go...so ten months in total!! So dont panic!!! Our budget was also less than yours! Not too early for anything, in fact the more you get done now the less stress,,you can put a deposit down on the suits etc but will not have to get measured etc till closer the time.

For my favours..I am making a cookie for everyone (homeade) with their name on...and I have little glass bottles,,with sand in, a purple ribbon tied around and a personal message for each guest inside...sealed with a cork :)

My bro and SiL will have had 9 months to plan theirs, 8 months now.. They have booked their venue (joint ceremony and reception), booked the registrar and given notice, she's got her dress, their invites are going out in August.. Guys suits are usually about 4 months before, as are the rings really, kids outfits are usually 2-4weeks before the date (at least thats when our suit guy want's to see then 8 year old stepson)

I booked my venue in March and hardly have anything left to do and I'm not getting married for 2 years ! Lol.. Don't worry about it :-) xxx

A year is more than enough time. We're getting married 21st June 2014 and have only this week booked the venue and registrar. You've done more than me so far... :-)

you have plenty of time, it'll just be all systems go until the day. Most people I know (including my self) take long breaks in the planning when they have years to go. So don't worry, you'll be fine. :)

I'm getting married in Novemeber 2014 and I ordered my artificial flowers 2 days ago lol. The more that's done now, means less to do nearer the time :) x

Are you DIY'ing? If you are I would suggest you get those bits so that you know you have them then you can make things when you want to. I don't get married until May 2014 but have a dining room of bits for table plan, centre pieces, favours, sweet trees, the post box etc. I would also get some quotes and talk to people like florists, DJ, etc to get some rough prices.

We have looked at potential Wedding Rings and Suits etc but purely for ideas and for quotes. haven't made any concrete decisions yet.

Thanks for your help guys, I want to try and get most of it done by April 2014, my hubby to be has booked us a holiday then and do t really want to be lying on the beach stressing about things an be able to jut chill out! Lol!

The venue we are using have done us a all inclusive package which includes... Wedding breakfast, evening buffet, 3 tier wedding cake, favours (but going to cancel them have a upgraded cake and do our own favours) chair covers, napkins, sashes, toast master, table centre pieces, top table flower display, DJ, Royal Mail post box, table plan, table number, and 3 rooms per night! We lease with the hotel and their suppliers to decide on how we want things, so more than half of our budget has gone on that, it's just the few extra things I want to do my self!

Just not too sure on what try try and organise next lol!!

    Xxxx

You will need to book entertainment, video, cars, hair, nails, make-up, cake, catering, sooner rather than later especially as you're getting married in a peak wedding month & they will get booked up very quickly

The other bits like favours, stationery, gifts, jewellery, outfits etc etc you can do bit by bit.

Shop around, get good deals ( not always cheapest ) I find if you are polite & suppliers will cut a deal with you rather than going straight in & saying "im on a budget"
Favours could be incorporated into the placecards ( like little stones that spell out their names ) or seeds bags, some small & cheap - all depends what you want really & what your theme is.
