I've had clear adult fixed braces for the last three months, and was proposed to a week ago. The braces are due to be in for 18 months and the date for the wedding is Sept next year. Would it be insane to have them taken off too early (they cost £3.5k , I saved for ages and my teeth really made me miserable)? Should I try and pursuade hubby to be to wait a little longer, or should I just go with it and have no wide smiles for my wedding photos? Argh! It's supposed to be the day where you feel at your most beautiful, and i'm sure i'll be really self-conscious if I still have them on the day!

What to do, what to do? Any help or suggestions appreciated.....

If you have them taken off early you will regret it later on, I did the same thing had them off before I should have and I have regretted it ever since x

I would definitely keep the braces on for the required time. You will need to wear a retainer for about 2 years after as your teeth would be likely just to slowly move back to they're original shape.

If you haven't booked anything yet, would it be out of the question to arrange the wedding for when your braces are off? Then you get the best of both :)

I know it may lead to more expense, which you wont need whilst arranging a wedding, but could you ask your dentist for those new invisible braces. Keep your braces in hun because you obviously wanted them so much and paid a lot of money for them. xxx

Health always comes first and you would regret later on if you had them taken off. Photoshop is the way to go hun. Its safe fast and doesn't mean you have to have anything done at all. x x

I don't NEED them, would just like them for vanity! There shouldn't be too much required-I hope! U can get 6-9 mth programmes, hopefully that will apply to me

i know how you feel. i had braces and was so self consious when i had them in. i woulnt even talk without covering my mouth.

i would speak to your dentist and ask how your teeth are looking and if they may come of early.

when i had mine i got told expect to have them for 2-2 half years but only had them for 13 months as my teeth moved so quick. but i would also ask if you will have to have a retainer. xx

I would think back to how you felt before you had your teeth done as you were obviously that unhappy you thought it was worth 3.5k! Speak to your dentist and see what he says about it. Also think about how you will feel after you have got married and you have lost the 3.5k and still unhappy with the results. Its easy to get carried away with wedding plans etc but teeth can be photoshopped for free. Can you afford to have them put back in if need be?

speak to your dentist he may be able to take them off and fit you with a retainer then refit them for you after the wedding, i had braces back in my teens and now regret not wearing the retainer like i should my teeth are not too bad but could have been much better if i stuck with the retainer for a bit longer

I'm getting confused! This initial thread started in aug!
I only added to it so I didn't get in trouble with the mods for another braces discussion!
