I really don't want a garter toss but a good old bouquet toss I love. I've been to only a few weddings throughout my life and nearly always caught the bouquet - even as a child. I think I caught it 4 times. Was always fun :-)
So that's one tradition I'd love to keep but I don't want to toss my bouquet which took me months to make.
Who's tossing theirs? And are you getting a second one?

I'm having 2 made... one that I'm carrying and keeping and the second slightly smaller one that I'm tossing..
I know several people that did the same thing including my sister and their marriage is still going strong 10years later.. so I personally don't think there's any issues with not tossing the bouquet that you'll be carrying down the aisle...
Another wedding I went to... she carried both bouquets... didn't really work for me...
Like you ... I'm not doing a garter toss ... really don't like the idea of that... :-@

Thank you kisywisy it was such a shock he was my daughter grandad on their dads side, such a kind gentle caring man and totally unexpected. His wife is in hospital seriously ill and he had been to visit her and bless him passed away on the bus on the way home. It has been the hardest thing ever telling my girls he was his world and him theirs xx

I am so sorry to hear about their grandad. Very nice gesture. Might remember this for my nan who passed away last year.
Thing is I'm making mine. Now I'm thinking on how to make another one - for sure not the same way.

So sorry to hear about their grandad. That is a great idea.
I might use my MOH's one instead of buying 2 save a bit of money.

Gosh! Sorry for your loss.
I do like the idea of giving your bouquet to a loved one sleeping though.
Also wish I had a moh to nick hers. Maybe I will ask Sophie to make a bouquet that is easily split in 2 , or that she gives me a wrist corsage for the night......
I'm now a married woman
I have a gorgeous husband
Whats to do now
Theres no more wedding planning to do

I've been moh twice and the first time I put my bouquet onto my grandparents grave - there was no way that bride was getting her hands on my bouquet!!! The second time I couldn't do that as there was a lot of wire and beading around the base, and the church don't allow it - although this also meant that the bride couldn't throw it too.
I'm also going flower free, and I very much doubt my guests want me to throw my parasol/umbrella at them! If you're got time them maybe you could make up a simple bouquet, perhaps from felt instead of crocheting it? it is one of the traditions that is quite fun.
If only life could be one long tea break

Im definately getting a second bouquet for throwing. My bouquet is beautiful and is artificial so I plan on keeping it forever. I dont like the idea of giving it away and really dont want to throw it and then ask the catcher for it back. So I plan on making a very simple second bouquet for throwing.

I was wondering about this yesterday. I didn't originally want to throw mine and was going to throw my moh's, but, we've now booked our honeymoon for 2 days after the wedding so I won't get to enjoy it anyway. I might take a few roses out in case I decide to press/preserve/frame them in some way.
My moh lives in Europe. She won't be able to take hers back with her will she? So I guess I could use hers and give mine to my mum to keep and enjoy after the wedding.

hmmm cant toss mine - only thing I would achieve is either a whole in a wall/ceiling or hospitalising someone as its a ton weight (brooch bouquet)!! BMs have button ones so likely to do as much damage.
Cant remember any weddings Ive been to actually doing the whole tossing of the bouquet and it hasnt been factored into any of my plans but I really love the idea of a second one for placing at a significant place etc
Working on a 3 dream plan for the next 5 years!

My bms won't have a bouquet as such either. No tossing there.
I might make one from cupcake cases or like you said OWD from felt.
I remember catching it once and the bride telling me I HAVE to keep it (wanted to give it back) so that was hung up dried on my wall for a few years. The last one I caught was my aunts years back - that was pretty funny, my h2b and me had been together for 3 months and it was the first time he met my clan. I caught the bouquet and two of my uncles swept him up on their shoulders cheering like mad. Poor sod :-)) And the last two weddings I went to the brides left this out - I really felt it's missing. So I really really want to do it. Though I can see my girlfriends all going SatC and stepping away and letting the kids catch it :D

The brides at the last three weddings i've been to haven't done it and though I wouldn't have been desperately wanting to catch it, I thought it was a shame it didn't happen. It always does on tv and in films!!!

Went to my cousins wedding and she did it in the evening so all the ladies could be there, here's got wrecked though cos they were all snatching at it so the petals ended up all over the floor but never mind it was nice to have that though cos i've never been to a wedding that did it

I don't think I'll be throwing my bouquet, I've got artificial flowers and I've spent hours attaching the wires to each flower in order to get the right look and it is quite heavy. It might just knock someone out, plus its got lots of little crystals on it now (more hours of work!) which might be a bit dangerous. And I've spent so long on it I wouldn't want it damaged or gone forever, I intend on keeping it!
I may get another cheap bunch of artificial flowers to throw though as I think its a great part of the day.... though most of the ladies attending my wedding would probably run a mile!
CommentAuthorMariephiz
I like the idea of throwing it, but again I agree, its so expensive, and I also have plans to lay mine on my Grandma's grave the day after. I really like the idea of making a bouquet out of cake cases, that would look really quirky, and be a bouquet that could be caught!
Just thought though....we're one of the last of our friends to get married, so there will hardly be more than 3 girls who are single (that is if they don't find someone in the next year!) Is it worth throwing it and will others still get in on the act? I don't want to go to the trouble of making a bouquet to throw it to just one person!

I won't be tossing mine I don't think as I'd like to have mine pressed/dried. I love the idea but I would rather keep mine!

Yeap I'm doing the same, hoping to toss my BM's bouquet and keep mine to get it preserved - but mum told me last week she's expecting me to put my bouquet on my dad's grave! Lovely thought but that means I can't get it sent off and preserved...
CommentAuthorOfficially Mrs M
how BM's have you got Bridalmiss? if you have more that one then throw one and then put one on their grave?

Only got the one but she lives abroad so won't be taking her bouquet back with her so thinking of tossing that one - only prob is whoever catches it usually keeps it, so I guess we'll have to work out what to do with mine nearer the time - maybe I'll preserve a few flowers from it and put the rest of the bouquet at my Dad's - the flowergirls (2 of them) we're giving stuffed toys to carry as they can play with them and have them as presents, thought little girls would bash the flowers about so they're not getting any! Maybe a hairband but that's it :-)

My cousin tossed a popular branded bride teddy bear which was holding a bouquet. and they have now been married 12 years, so wasn't too unlucky to break that tradition. lol
I like the idea of putting the bouquet on grave though, as my dad died when I was 4, so would be nice to have him apart of it in a way. My H2B even went to his grave to ask for permission to marry me. I know obviously he wouldn't get an answer but it meant so much to me that he did it :) x

I'e been here sitting for weeks keep going dont want to throw my flowers so expensive and they are too heay and too gorgeous, but an amazing idea the MOHs. im using my flowers for my top table centerpiece and the 5 BMs on the cake table. cheaper and saves so much money otherwise they just get dumped on the table or under the table so want them to be in as much photos as poss. for my nan and other close relative that have past in the last few yrs. and also a funky speech to my future husband. anyone else using there flowers as top table decorations or doing a speech?
