I'm hoping to get a variety of alcoholic miniatures as favours but I am wondering if anyone knows whether hotels would allow this? Should I just not tell my coordinator? Also, do most people do favours for day guests only or favours for evening guests too?

Our venue havent asked what our favours are so I dont see why it would be a problem.

I would imagine it would be fine, although you possibly couldn't give them to anyone under 18. It's worth checking, in case they say no at the last minute. We're only doing favours for the full day guests.

I checked with my hotel before I decided on whiskey for the guys (Had a complete turn around since then lol)

We also checked if it was ok for sweet favours as ive heard some places are really funny.

Our favours are for day guests only

Favours generally are for day guests and set out with the wedding breakfast with their place card. I would definitely check with your venue first as some will be fine allowing it, but ive heard others may try and charge corkage (yes, mad!) x

Thanks guys. I think we can only afford the whisky favours for day guests anyway! I spoke to the hotel and they said it's fine as long as they're not consumed on the premises. Something they can't really control though!

As long as it's not consumed on the premises! Like that will happen at a wedding!

For our favours we have mini vodka bottles. We informed our venue and they charged us corkage of approximately £1 per miniture, not too bad and they ARE allowed to consume them on the premises, otherwise whats the point?

Our favours are only for our day guests as they will be out on the table where they sit for the meal. We are however paying for our evening guests first drinks as our hotel is quite expensive!

We wanted to, but was gonna be charged corkage on them, or we had to tell guests they weren't allowed to drink them at the wedding, as no 'freebie' alcohol allowed at our venue, shame really as I'd had some really good ideas x

I think I'm just going to go for it. The worst that can happen is that a waiter catches someone and asks them not to drink it. I could ask my H2b to mention in his speech that they have to be discreet.

yeah just check with the venue first. iam sure any understanding venue would be lenient, you could also have a tounge in cheek disclaimer with a wink saying 'not to be consumed until after the wedding to toast our honeymoon?!'
