This might be a slightly confusing one, but with booking the registry office, I phoned to arrange the date for my wedding. They put me down for that time, but we were asked to give notice with my region, they would phone where we are getting married, then they would send a wedding package for us. Is the date and time solidified before or after giving notice? My fiance has been struggling to get the time to go because the office is only open Monday-Friday and his work has been reluctant to let him off for the time to do it and I'm worried our slot will be given away.

Your date and time will be secured if you've already booked it. We booked our time and date first with the local registrars where we are getting married, and are giving our notice at our local council on Monday. As long as you do give notice at some point and as long as you pay your remaining balance by the due date you will not lose your slot xx
