We just booked our wedding for feb next year which is very exciting however I messaged my friend as it's the same date as her birthday and said in a jokey way I hope you dont mind us getting married on your birthday! And she replied she didnt mind it was her birthday but shes not in the county and her and her husband have booked these amazing cruises and cant cancel as they lose all the deposit. The venue is very popular and this was the only date left for 2021 in the least expensive month, we love the venue and couldn't see ourselves being married anywhere else. We booked however it now feels a bit awkward as my friend is gutted she can't come and another friend in that group made me feel quite bad about it and it seems to be my fault? - it has actually upset me as I feel I've been made out to be this horrible person when I just want to get married to the man I love at the venue we love. Just wondering if anyone else has had something similar happen? X

Your wedding is about you guys, no one else so don’t feel like your the bad person, because you're not.
At the end of the day if you asked all of your friends and family to see if they were free on a particular day, I can guarantee not everyone would be.
It’s a shame that your friend is on holiday, but it’s not the end of the world. If your friend gets upset or in a mood with you, that’s not your fault, it’s theirs, do not let it spoil your big day. If they were good friends they will understand.
