Wedding Forum - Bm's dresses, can anyone help? (Adivce)...

so OH and I REALLY REALLY like the idea of the bm's dresses being long and preferably with tulle skirts. BUT the cheapest we have seen are £69.99 each and we simply cant afford that.

We definatlyt dont want satin or silk, we dont like it at all, but would settle for something else materail wise. looking for two plus sized (18 and 22-24) in baby pink.

NOw i did consider (for about 30 seconds) how easy or hard it would be to make some, and soon decided not to even go there ha ha

(BTW i started making the lower girls dresses, the way someone on here told me about, with a hairband and tulle, got some Gorgeous soft one off the bay, even found it in rolls that are the perfect width, meaning less cutting, each pieece is the same width and easy peasy to do. I ran out of tulle but what i did do looks stunning and can i say ANYONE could make it!)

the other 4 bm's (eeeeekkk, my oh chose them) will be in white short cocktail dresses, but theyre all petite. We dont want to make our curvier ladies feel bad, so we are saying (and it is true) tha tthyere getting different dresses as one is my maid of honour and one is my oh's matron of honour.

Yes i would also recommend the bay or Debenhams - especially if you use the discount voucher code website, they usually have a 20% off deal

I would also say to try ebay! They also have bridesmaid dresses in places like debenhams, John Lewis etc so you could try them or wait for their sales? X

You might be able to find some bridesmaid looking dresses in high street shops like oasis, monsion etc but I don't know how expensive they'd be xx

Ebay is really good for cheap dresses. Mine are costing £30 each. However, I have only just ordered and they havent arrived yet, so I dont know if the dresses are any good. Fingers crossed!

i doubt many of them, if any could afford £70 EITHER, MAYBE WE COULD STRIKE A DEAL TO GO HALF EACH

if they was cumin to ure weddin as a guest surely an outfit wud be about 70ish anyway wudnt it?

have you taken a look at light in the box? I've been looking at the dresses on there but haven't gotten round to getting my bridesmaids measurements yet.

There is a website called sexyher that can be cheap especially if you can get one in there sale... I've had a few gorgeous dresses from there and paid no more then 40 pound x

primark dont go big enough for some of the bm's unfotunatly. We plan to look around the sales at the end of summer, as hoping we can afford to buy these two larger ones then.

as others have said, try highstreet shops. there is a brilliant website called shopstyle and that will search all highstreet shops (even brands you haven't heard of). it's fantastic!!!

I am sure we will. Oh doesnt want to ask anyone to pay for anything themselves, but she doesnt want to ask for donations towards the cost of the wedding instead of gifts either, as she doesnt like asking for money.

She agreees on the idea, but wants me to ask lol

we're on a very small budget and are asking if anyone has talents they could help insteead of gifts. got hairdresser and flowers from it already. So for everyone else ask, if they dont think it cheeky, if they would be wiling to pay a small donation towards the cost of the wedding itself.
We really dont need presents so much, and sharing our wedding day means more than presents, this will just help us get there quicker
