Wedding Forum - BLATANT ADVERTISING!! PLEASE READ...

Can I remind ALL members that this is a NON ADVERTISING forum which includes advertising through chat, message AND on members walls!!!
This morning we seem to have two new members here for the express purpose of advertising their businesses which is against ukbride rules.Not only are they advertising IN the forum but I have seen both leave messages on members walls as well which is also against the rules.
Can I ask that if you see any such posts on your wall that you copy and paste it to a moderator and then delete it. (UNFORTANTLY WE ARE NOT "FRIENDS" WITH EVERYBODY SO MIGHT MISS SOME PEOPLES WALLS SO NEED YOUR HELP)
J and IT Man are on the case and will be contacting both members involved ASAP but until then can we all work together and get this stamped out as quick as possiable

ADVERTISING AND LINKS

Advertising of a business, product or supplier is not permitted on the UKbride forum. Only brides to be may make use of the forum with the only exception being UKbride experts. These are experts in their fields who are there to offer impartial advice to forum users. These suppliers can be identified by a badge on the forum that says “UKbride Expert”. These carefully selected experts are entitled to use real world examples drawn from their own experience to answer questions, but not to blatantly advertise their own business. For example: "We at XYZ photography generally find that most brides spend upwards to £1000 on their photography - this would be a realistic figure to put into your budget. "
UKBRIDE members advertising their own business by offering FREE services is also frowned upon, if you wish to offer something for free by all means do so but no advertising your business while doing so and leave information on YOUR wall for others to see!
NO links of any kind are to be posted in the forum, if you want to share something you've found, then please by all means let people know in the forum but post the link to the profile wall of those who would like to look or on your own. This is because we had people questioning why we could post some links but not others. To stop the confusion we at UKBRIDE decided ALL links would be banned in the forum.

All advertising and links will be DELETED by the moderators!

Advertising on the forum or blatant advertising on members walls or through pm is also not tolerated.
This includes promoting friends/relatives businesses. Tell the person asking that you know someone then post on their wall NOT on the forum.

No names of other sites/companies/shops that do the things UKBride does will not be permitted, IE if you find another site that has the same wedding tools that we do then you may post to member's walls IF asked but do not name in the forum.
Well known sites like facebook and ebay can be used in conversation but NO links to them may be used (most people use nicknames for these like bay of e and face ache, which is fine if you wish to do this if unsure).
Also people RECRUITING to other site's is not tolerated and your account MAY be suspended or even deleted.

NO emails are allowed in the forum. This is for your safety as well as our clients and other members.

Due to an increase of "VOTE FOR ME..." topics, it has been decided at UKBride that these topics should be banned from the forums. This is because UKBride runs monthly and annual competitions and these threads are advertising companies that are UKBride's competitors. In aid of fairness ALL non-UKBride competition threads will be deleted, even if they are not wedding related competitions.

Just had one myself, asking if i wanted a wedding dress!! Lol

Hopefully it will be sorted by the end of the day as the advertising department are phoning them as we speak so they will no longer be ABLE to post on walls etc if they become advertisers so no need to block them hopefully

I had one on my wall from the photographer from Max Jones, but deleted it before I read this! They look like a scam to me anyway, and they don't even write their sentences to make sense, and he called me Clare :s I am not Clare lol xxx

There was one the other day on my post about wedding rings... she commented and left a website address. I'll see if I can find it..

The UKB sponsers advertising are not the problem its the other people coming on advertising companies etc when they really shouldnt be. If they want to advertise they like all the rest should pay for the privilge of us brides seeing them. And even then if we want we can stop the advertising by blocking then deleting the comments (I was doin gthis to start with then lost track now i have way too many pages) x

that 'mo' needs their profile removing i think.. they keep advertising subtly but that is what theyre doing. i know a while back they were blatently trying to sell on threads too. in the swap shop xx

There *must* be a way to write some HTML code in such a way that if someone tried to advertise on the forum/people's walls, etc, a message will come up saying something like "sorry this is a non advertising forum, please contact site administrator for more details"


Doing this would save *A LOT* of headaches for everyone!! I'm amazed nothing has been done yet to be honest.

It doesn't have to.

Most folk who chances their arm cannot advertise without putting some form of web address in. Therefore, as soon as any code recognises this...Bang! you're thrown out. Its no different to having your password reset after several attempts. PHP software works like this, and I see no reason why UKB cannot adopt the same principle. I noticed that the majority of UKB is built using HTML, so I'm sure something can be done.

Those that have paid to advertise on my wall for example, fine, knock yourself out-I won't pay attention, but go for it! Lol.

I wear thinking of the mods when I posted, not so much about myself. as they are the people who have to waste their time deleting posts when they don't have to.

It's those like that "photographer" who blatantly tried to peddle his wares, and people like him who this is aimed at. You raised my point and answered it. It is indeed those that try to come in through the back door "without a ticket" is who it should apply to.

Can I remind members that if you post the same thing on a number of threads old and new "recommending" a site/shop this is STILL classed as advertising regardless how you word it or if you say the link is on your wall
