We're flying to Vegas on Monday with the company 'that hasn't lost it's cherry yet' (LOL) and are due to check in online from 11.25am tomorrow. However, I was wondering if we had a better chance of blagging an upgrade if we left it and checked in in person on Monday morning? What do you think? Anyone ever had success of upgrading with this airline and how did you manage it?! Hx

I've never done this myself, but casually dropping the wedding into conversation where the attendants can hear apparently works? I think you have a better chance on the way back, especially with a stamped wedding certificate haha :)
But I would try a very subtle wedding comment :P

ive never done it myself, but i would say it is worth a try. i would wait until you get to the airport to check in just incase you can get upgraded xx

Just did a check and apparently if you booked through a travel agent, sometimes they will include the information on your booking info so that people upgrade you during the trip?

I've got copies of all the paperwork and it's written all over it that we're getting married and a honeymoon couple, so you never know! Just managed to get hold of a friend who works for the other main british airline, and he said to check in online as Vegas flights are usually very busy and if you don't check in as soon as you can, you may lose your seats and not be able to sit together. We can then talk very nicely to the back checkers and be uber nice and they may do it. I'll let you know! Hx
We're going on honeymoon with that same company and they have put that we are honeymooners on all of our paperwork and records so if there are any upgrades / freebies available we are more likely to get them.

I went to America last yr and i tried for an upgrade however the flight was fully booked so couldn't however my friend flew from London (i was Glasgow) and used the sob story that she has never flown on her own before and is a nervous flier. She was upgraded and spent her flight in the luxury of first class. I'd defo mention it to the person on the check-in desk and i'm sure if they have availability thy will upgrade you, good luck xx

I Got upgraded to premium econ once didnt ask they just said have some comp upgrades and done it

we are going to Maldives so have no chance. Most of the couples on that plane will be honeymooners. We are just gonna dress smart and hope for the best!

You have to be dressed smartly to be upgraded to first/business class. hope you do get an upgrade what a great start that would be x

I've heard that if you dress smart that you have a better chance. Also don't forget that you can always ask when you get on the plane if someone is willing to swap for you although I'm not sure if they still allow them to do that just in case there is an accident or anything as they use the data to determine who is sat where.

you have to sit in the seats allocated to you for take off and landing.... and tbh if i had paid for a first or business classs seats there would be no way i would be giving it up for someone just bc they were on honeymoon
We just paid for the upgrade - it's our honeymoon and it'll be a once in a life time holiday so we wanted the best without the worry :o)

Ive just flown back from Australia and it was just me travelling with my 3 kids (13, 11 and 2) - checked in online but when i got to airport they told me I had been upgraded. Believe me smart didnt come into it lol more beraggled, stressed out and emotional (proposal had only been 2 hours beforehand and was leaving him behind again :-( ) and my 2 year old gives new meaning to the word monster. I think its just pot luck when it comes to upgrades a lot of the time - when my oh flew out in March he got all smartened up etc but didnt make any difference.

my other half works for a well known air line and he has a thing where he can see how many seats are available. Some people may get bumped up to upper form premium so you might always get something in premium which is very nice we went to Vegas last April. We were both in econcomy me down him up in the end with a bit effort from my other half we got put together in premium up stairs as the guy he was sitting next to moved to the seats in the front and the ppl that was sitting there got moved to upper so people will move if they get something better so it does happen! x

p.s if you dress up smart that does make a difference, as they want you to look half decent if they are going to put u in a higher price seat x

We didn't get an upgrade on our honeymoon - but we'd booked through the travel agent so all our details (including that it was our honeymoon) had been listed. When we arrived at the hotel though, we were given complimentary champagne, brought to our room because we were on honeymoon :-)
