So I told my mum last week that we had set the date and all I got back was "Oh that's a surprise" and no response since. I know she won't come to my wedding or help in any way and it is hurting me like mad deep inside, but I knew she wouldn't due to her husband being an absolute ............... I won't use the word on here.
Anyway MIL2B was round today and inspite of disaproving of me marrying in white (we have two children together and havebeen living in sin for 7 years lol) was offering financial and physical help wherever we needed it. She asked about hen and stag dos and we said we were each going to go away for a few days somewhere warm and sunny to relax a couple of months before the day and have a night in town for the masses and "traditional" hen and stags a week or so before the wedding.
She has told us she will pay for us and our friends to go away on the small foreign hen and stag as she paid for H2Bs brothers honeymoon and we won't be having one. I was so chuffed as I was wondering if we would be able to afford it.
However the whole sadness of my own mother not bothering rears it's head and makes me feel like poo. xx

Haha Madison - I did tell her to find me a bride who isn't these days, and followed this up by telling her my friends dress was red. Her face was a picture at this. She is in her mid 70s and very old fashiond but I couldn't ask for a better MIL2b. xx

Awwww thats lovely! And as for the dress, the actual meaning behind wearing white is to ward off evil from the marriage, not to show purity (this only became the meaning many years later!) so there is no reason for you not to wear it! I'm sorry to hear about your mum though :( at least MIL2B is helping out and showing an interest :) xxx
Got together 14.02.2008

Will become a Mrs on 30.08.2014 xxxxxx
I know how you feel on the mother issue, but at least MIL2B is being more supportive than expected! :)

I wouldn't let your mum get to you hun. It's her that will be missing out at the end of the day! It's great news about mil2b tho. Just make sure you put your foot down with her if she starts any nonsense and traditions!
