Hello everyone, Well been to the venue tonight to finalise everything with just two days to go till our big day. When the venue very kindly drops a bombshell on us. They have decided that we no longer require the two rooms that we have been paying for all along because we have said we have 7 less guests coming on the evening, even thouh I did also point out that 8 guests were still unknown due to a recent family loss. So they decided that the bigger room which is actually the main resturant will be open to the public and they know they have 23 guests staying that night which have nothing to do with our wedding so they will be dining there, directly next to where we are. It gets worse, they also decided we werent in need of any kind of deduction after this decision because in their opinion we were given a very good deal anyway.
Anyway my mum was fumimg when we got back and I told her (she was looking after the kids), so she has been on the phone having a go at them and eventually they decide to give in. it turns out that they have to set another smaller restuarant up for the bed and breakfast guests to dine in if the main one is being used for a function, so really it just sounds like they were just trying to make their life easier. To be honest I am quite upset that they would do this with so little time to go, especially when I have been contacting her for various things over the last three weeks and have had no mention of it before. plus I know for sure I will be really embarrased next time I see her because my mum got involved...urgh dont need the stress. Sorry for the rant everyone. Xx

Rubbish - not what you need with two days to go :( I hope they make up for it on the day
There are so many people out there who will tell you
what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!
CommentAuthorKarenB9
so venues really just want there cake and eat with no regards of peoples feelings. just glad your mum sorted them out. and i wouldn't be embarresed they are the ones that should be feeling that !!
Good on your mum for telling them, you have paid for two rooms and thats what you should have, you cant have total strangers sitting down for a meal where your having your recepton xx

My mum tells me that when she was on the phone to the events organiser they said there is a wedding on the Friday (today) and those 23 guests are from that wedding staying there for two days already so it would suit those guests to continue to use the restuarant like they have already.. So basically she wanted to take the main room from us to make the other wedding happy. Im sorry and may sound a bit bridezilla here bit Saturday is our day not theirs and we paid for both rooms, at an agreed price with the manager whether she thinks we paid enough or not! I lost sleep over it all last night. Thanks for your comments ladies. Xx

how flipping cheeky! OMG! naa i would be feeling exactly the same as you hun, Phew to your mum tho bless her! and in honesty....if i was a guest in the hotel, and you were having your reception right there, i wouldnt want to intrude and sit down and start eating right next to where you guys were...i would feel rude lol xx at least its all ended up well, but i would double check everything else to make sure the venue have not cut any other corners - making life easier for themselves! xxx

I wouldn't feel embarrassed at all - I would go in there, hold my head high and know that you are now getting exactly what was agreed and what was paid for. They should be the ones hanging their heads in shame!
Glad it's all worked out for you now and you can enjoy your day, the way you wanted it. x

I agree with the others, good on your mum for sticking up for you and calling them, and don't feel embarrassed on the day. You are only getting what you originally paid for. You're handing over a great deal of money to this company to this company, they need to provided what they promised.

They will probably be the ones feeling embarrassed! And quite rightly too.
Don't worry about your mum stepping one, that's what I'd do as I'm rubbish with things like that.

dont be embarrassed i would have got all my family involved to get what i agreed, they shouldn't be changing anything with only two days to go and certainly not be changing things outside of your agreement

How rude! Clearly trying to pull a fast one, you've apid for it, you should get regardless of who doesn't turn up!
If anyone should be embarrassed it's them, I'm quite quick to temper, but I'm also quick to back down, so in this situation I'd need back up too! I'd well send one of the mothers or a mate in windmilling! Can't beleive they were even trying to take the full amount as well, cheeky bleeders. If you can give a review on a website, make sure you say their customer service was appalling!

I am glad it is all sorted now, good of your mum to have stepped in. Don't worry about feeling embarrassed, you have enough on your plate to worry about with 1 day to go.
It is so cheeky of them to tell you that especially, I am assuming, its been booked for a while and its what you have paid for. Good luck tomorrow, just relax and enjoy. xxx
CommentAuthorDefinitelymaybe
Definitely not bridezilla hun. You paid for it and should get it!! I would have kicked off at them if it were me. Glad it is all sorted now though. Enjoy your big day tomorrow xx

Thank you everyone. I saw the lady in question last night when I dropped off my centre pieces and other decorations, I was with my mum and she was very sheepish around us. Anyway today is the BIG day i've been up since 5, just got to wait for my MOH and everyone to come now...eeek! Xx

Dont you dare feel embarrassed. Its about time these bullying businesses were stood up to, and I take my hat off to your mum for standing up for whats right. How dare they suggest what they did....? unbelievable. THEY should feel embarrassed when they see you today, and they owe you an apology for the stress, and seeming to put the other wedding first.....(even though it was yesterday)
Hold your head high today, and have a wonderful wedding.
