Why can't everyone just do what they said they were going to do? My MIL to be said she would like to help towards the wedding but now it appears the money comes with strings attached.

Grrr.....fine. We are going to find the money elsewhere and pay her back so we don't have to deal with it.

But its a stress we could do without!

Poor you :( If you've thought you could rely on someone and they pull the rug out from under you it's v upsetting. I completely understand your reservations about the dogs in particular. And why on her own, as you say?? Why on earth can't you guys go with...? I think you are doing the right thing by trying to raise the money yourselves so she has no hold over what you do, though it's a sad turn of event for you. I know it won't be easy, it's the last thing any of us would want lumped on us at 3 months to go! Good luck and I really hope it works out :) x

My h2b and I agreed that we wouldnt get married unless we could save up and pay for it ourselves, which we are well on the way to, however we've been extremely lucky in that both our mums have both offered a contribution of equal amounts, which we both really appreciated and allows us that bit of spare money for a honeymoon. I hope you get it sorted Kastobe, im sure you will, keep happy :)

Argggh i feel your pain, my MIL2B promised us £2,000 towards the wedding which would help us enormously and would have meant we could the photographer we want and other bits. unfortunately she has now changed her mind and has said we wont get any money from her, BUT...... she may give us money AFTER the wedding!! what use is that?!!

    what is she demanding?

Its YOUR day and helping you out financially doesn't mean she gets a say in your day!
Good luck finding the cash to pay her back x

my mil2b said they weren't going to contribute when we asked if they would like to, then now, after we've scrimped and scraped through the past few months to pay for everything, and now have given us £200.

i kinda feel like they have given us it so we HAVE to now than them for financially contributing even though none of it actually went towards the wedding and my family have paid over £1000 without me even asking... The £200 is now helping us through this next month as i'm 3 weeks with no pay..
    xx
