right been checking through the contract for our venue and everything is in order!! issue i have (may be minor i dont know) is over the sparkling wine for the day which is in the package.
it works out like this....
1 glass when guests arrive for ceremony 1 glass after ceremony 1 glass with cake cutting (which is supposed to be before the meal) 1 glass for the toasts (before the meal again) 2 glasses with the meal
now to me thats too much especially at one go. i would like to change the cake cutting to the evening but it means im forking out for the full room to have wine (unreasonable excuse??)
am i being unreasonable? can i change it round somehow but im not sure how? mil and parentals dont see my issue and we dont know what we can do. we cant change the wine package as its with the full package and if we change down were losing a lot of extras i cant afford to pay otherwise.
xx

Remember it wont all be in one go...Guests will arrive and have a glass of wine, then head into the ceremony which by the time you're in and seated, it's taken place and your out again will take 45ish mins (depending on the type of ceremony) then they'll have another glass. After this, by the time you're seated and Bride and Groom have made their entrance, I'd give it another 20-30 minutes so they'll be ready for the cake cutting. Then one for the toasts (the speeches will typically last about 30 mins so they'll be ready for this one) and then 2 for the meal.
I can understand your thinking that 6 glasses of wine is an awful lot in one go...but the welcome drinks, reception drinks, cake cutting drinks and the toast drinks are likely to be served in champagne glasses which are lots smaller than your typical wine glass.
Hopefully this makes sense?xx

Yeah I agree, but if you have a package and you want to change the timings of the drinks/events this should be fine - we're doing our cake in the evening and the speeches before the main course - we also found it cheaper to have bottles of wine per table rather than glasses per person etc.

No problem!! our caterer does house wine (white, red and rose) for £13.50 plus VAT so £16 per bottle - you may be able to get it cheaper! But for a table of 8 it's 2 bottles, which works out slightly cheaper than the £3.50 + VAT they wanted per small glass of wine! We also asked for jugs of iced water to be on the tables too, which is free as opposed to the bottled water which they wanted to charge for too :-)
Then at all times the pay bar is open so we figure our guests will be happy to buy anything outside of the table wine, toasts and welcome drinks :-)
