After reading thru the requirements for giving notice...it states that if ur born after 1983, u have to take proof of ur parents nationality...e.g. Their passports or birth certificates... Can someone born after 1983 who's already given notice tell me if that's what they did?

i gave notice last week, h2b was born after that date, we took his mums birth certificate with us the registrar checked over everything then said really because we provided his full passport it wasn't really needed but she did take note of it i'd take it with you just in case x

I was born in 1986 and didnt have to provide extra. I think that rule only applies if you are using your birth certificate as proof, if you use a passport you dont. That's what I understood when I looked into it!

That'll be a bit hard for me as my dad works in Saudi so I doubt he'll be home for me to nick his passport and he doesn't have a b.cert.. Guess he'll have to order a new one for me lol xxx
Yea that was the same for me because I was born in 86 and had to bring my mothers birth certificate only not my dads, can't remember if they asked for a passport or anything I'm sure it was just the birth certificates of both our mums.

Depends on what id you have. I was born 87 and h2b 86. I had my passport so didnt need to take it as you give all that information when you apply for passport. H2b didnt have a passport so we had to take his mums birth certificate. Best thing to do is ring them. They'll be able to clarify she went through everything with me! They dont want you to go unprepared as it wastes your time and theirs so they are happy to help. X

I was born in 84 and I didn't have to take any of that but we gave notice over a year ago so the rules might of changed since then.
When you book in they should tell you everything that you need to bring.
Cant wait until I become Mrs K

I think it depends if you have a passport or not,the way they explained it to me is that if i provide them with a passport for myself (i dont have one) then they dont need to see anything else but if no passport then they needed to see my birth certificate and my mums birth certificate. My h2b has a passport so he only had to take his passport with him and then we just had to take a few bills (council tax etc) as proof of our address (more so h2b as ive got drivers licence) They dont make it easy do they? ;) lol

I was born in 89 and husband 88 and we just had to tell them where our parents were born, because they were born in Britain and are British citizens we didn't need to bring any proof. If you're unsure you should call the registry office just to make sure. I believe our passports were suffice.
