Love the show, although bits do make me cringe. That grabbing business does not look nice at all, I don't understand how these girl's dads can let that sort of thing happen when they are so protective of their little girls.
Abi - don't mean to hurl a load of questions at you, but is it as bad as the program makes it out to be? I mean, obviously you are not married at the minute and you have children, are you ostracized by your hubbie-to-be's family for that? Because that's sort of how it seemed on the program. Sorry for the questions, I'm just curious and interested.

Wow. Totally different way of life. I could never hand my 16yr old over & expect my husband to work whilst I stay at home & clean, but I've not been brought up that way.
The thing which amazes me most about these girls is the dresses r ridiculous. It's the most important day of their life, just they can't even walk or sit down properly. Kind of ruins the 'look' they were going for in my opinion.
If my h2b changes into a vest, we'll be getting an annullment!
Can't wait for next week!!
CommentAuthorAbi4tomboy
I stay home well my h2b goes to work i get up same time clean and cook and look after my children untill the time i go to bed i love my life and wouldnt change anything at all in it.
If my daughter meets a man thats decent treats her well and asks our premission she can be marryed at 16 and i would pay any money for her to have the best day of her life even if it was in the £100,000 if ive got it she can have it i happily go now and spent £100 on a dress for her if i like it.
I love this show, so bad it's good if you know what I mean?
I was stunned by their way of life and culture, they have the morals of Jane Austin and the dress sense and class of Jordan! How the girls put up with being like second class citizens is beyond me, they must be brain washed from birth
Still flipping good entertainment though :)
Can't wait until the day I become Mrs. Johnson :)

I absolutely LOVED every minute of it, can't wait for next week!! I threatened to sell the dress I've got and get one like Josie's and you should have seen the look on Ross' face :D I felt so bad for her when the limo was late, was on the edge of my seat quite literally praying that she'd get to church to marry Swanley! I felt for the little lass with the huge communion dress, she loved it but the poor little lamb could barely walk in it, class moment when she was sat yawning haha.
I find the way of life fascinating, it's so traditional. I admire them for all the hard work they put into raising their families, makes you realise just how much modern living takes away from proper family life xxx
It's right what they say
"The course of true love never runs smoothly"
But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

CommentAuthorMrs (Dove) Pidgeon
I felt sorry for Josie when the cars didn't show up. But Swanley not checking he knew the way to the church? Muppet.

I actually really enjoyed watching the program. Very interesting.

It was definitely an eye-opener! didn't like that grabbing business, very uncomfortable to watch but the dresses were hilarious!

Thing is when your16 you you dream of a princess dress etc. They are still young when they are getting married and still have them childhood dreams. Ours usually vanish when we get older but because they are still young they make them reality. I do find it funny how they have them that big they can't fit in through doors etc and find it cringe worthy when they have to be dragged and pushed about but each to their own. At least it gives us something to watch on a Tues night.
CommentAuthorUnknown
i have just watched up. def be watching it next week!! although i cant understand everything they say. they wedding last night was near where i live!! xx

My H2B now insists on having help me on his shoes I found it funny so said he could, the whole grabbing thing was bad =/ I didn't realise it was her dancing in the orange top and shorts till the end I was in total shock tbh! Love the show =D
CommentAuthorWinterrose

I'm just catching up last night's Eastenders and I'll be catching up on this afterwards - I am so looking forward to it. x

OMG I've just gone to watch this and it didn't record last night!!! Grrr!!! Does anyone know if it's repeated? I tried searching online but couldnt' find it. If i've missed it completely then i'll just watch it online. xxx
CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X
You can watch it online on 4 on demand so don't worry.
CommentAuthorNHR115
I'll just have to do that but my h2b wants to watch it too and it's a nightmare trying to huddle around a laptop. lol. xxx
CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X
Have you not got a HDMI cable so you can hook it up to the tv? Its what I do when I want to stream stuff to the tv.
CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X
If your laptop or tv hasn't got a HDMI port then you can use a VGA lead and do it that way too.
CommentAuthorNHR115
I'll be honest and say I don't know what that is. lol. Ooooh wait a minute, I might actually know what that is. Thanks Jo :) xxx
CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X
Lol Hope it has helped and you get to watch it. It is well worth it and I'm sure you will both laugh your socks off.
CommentAuthorRachelMarie
it's a great show! i wouldn't hav spent all that money on a dress to change into shorts and crop top at the end!! it's got to b hard for the woman though? having to give up school to help wiv house work at the age ov 11 it's like a step back in time!!
CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X
Hmmm I'm not sure about that. I would love to sit at home, clean the house and look after the kids rather than have to try and hold down a job while the kids are with the child minder and have to come home and do it all after a full day at work.

i loveddd this programme its amazing that people still have good morals and a shame that stigma and stereotype seem to follow them around totally unfair...wasnt sure about the grabbing thing but i know that on tv u only see one side of the actual story just dont think my h2b would allow anyone near our girls let alone grab them lol ! the dresses were BRIGHT and cheerful lol but if thats what they want and know then why shouldnt they we all spend time searching for our dress they just go bigger and better !! cannot wait until next week.x

I loved it! Can't wait for the next episode. Very cringeworthy
CommentAuthorSoon2beMrsHall
Watched it and thought it was mad. Good but mad. Some of them dresses. That poor little girl on her communion. She couldnt even walk.
Cant wait to to marry Martyn
Wishes the wedding would come faster
XxX
CommentAuthorSweetyPie
I felt they were raised to marry the 1st person that came along. 16/17 is far too young. And ditto MrsHall2b that poor little girl on her communion carrying twice her bodyweight around. She stood there exhausted and yawning during the service. And having the other little girls laughing at her was heartbreaking.
CommentAuthorMaggielou
It was wrong of the other mothers to let those little girls laugh directly at her, it's completely bad manners and a lack of parenting in my opinion - they should have been told off for it, but I'm sure I would've also laughed - until I saw my mum!
CommentAuthorloubyscooby
Loved the programme, it was great seeing the morals and culture the travellers have - very family orientated, girls not drinking etc. Yes there was some difficult viewing - esp the "grabbing" bit but overall compelling viewing. The diversity between the strict morals for the girls having to be chaperoned and the clothes they wore was mind boggling but the dresses (esp the one that lit up) were fab. Abi, glad you haven't experienced it but that doesnt mean to say it doesnt happen and yes a TV programme will always show things that will get everyone talking... series link girls, series link...
CommentAuthorFaeth
Anyone who missed it might still be able to see it on Channel 4's version of iPlayer on their website - I'm gonna check it out as I missed the last 10 minutes due to a recording clash :-(

louby- yes me and my h2b said were sure it occasionaly happens but its doesnt happen much thats not every way the get grapped and if it is its never as much as that its a case of give me a kiss -no - go on kind on thing not ill hurt u untill u do,, i no alot of people said omg how embrassing makeing us look like that people talk about us and bad mouth us everyday now they think thats the way all men meet women were never gan live it down,,, shame they couldn't focus on more liek you said there morals and how family oritated and house proud every1 is but the reputation there never going to show the good parts with out the bad i supose
CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X
Its like anything TV only shows what it wants us to see. I would like to think that we live in a world that is mature enough to see that. We all know there is good and bad in every community and if you look hard enough you will find the worst of it. They wouldn't have made the show though if it showed them in a good light as it doesn't make for 'good' tv. Its like if don't tell the bride has a perfect h2b on it we would get bored. Half the time they cause the trouble just to make it more interesting. They bring out the worst in all people. They are just trying to use the cultural differences to make it more shocking.
I have to admit I think to put a young girl in a dress twice her weight is child cruelty as you wouldn't ask a child of that age to walk around all day carrying two children. As for the older ones as much as I love to laugh at their dress sense I know its because they are still children themselves and if I had been married at that age I could have easily got carried away with wanting to be a princess and competing with other girls to be the 'best'. At that age you don't see things the way you do when you have more experience of life.
I can't wait for next weeks show. It makes me giggle so much.
CommentAuthorlaurabrown83
I agree with Louby about the fact that they say they have these high morals, no sex b4 marriage and no drinking etc. but then they dress like absolutely whores in my opinion so they cant blame people for having that impression of them lol! My dad would have murdered me if i tried to go out dressed like that at that age, in fact at age 27 he probably still would, they look disgraceful!!
CommentAuthorMrsOwen
just read in the paper that josie, who got married last week is 3 months pregnant, he goes out to work at 7am, takes her breakfast in bed, then she gets up at 2pm and tidies up, i want a marriage like that apart from the pregnancy of course lol
