OH MY GOD!!!!! Watched it with H2B so commenting now then reading all your comments to see if I missed anything....

First time H2B has watched it and he said it was an eye-opener!! He got a bit angry about the "grabbing" and said that's why travellers get a bad name and likened it to raping saying there will be a huge backlash about this til I explained that they showed grabbing in the first episode 3 WEEKS AGO and the only thing about the show that has been in the papers for getting a "backlash" was when a 6-yr old girl got spray-tanned last week!!!!!! Not only that, although this grabbing seems quite bad, once they are in a relationship, a traveller couple will be chaperoned everywhere and at all times until they are married and never left alone so there is never anything even close to sex before marriage and he calmed down then!! lol.
I absolutely LOVED Bridgets dress, that was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! Can't help feeling sorry for her mum though, who is going to look after her now?? But hat's off to her for getting out of her marriage and I think she has done an amazing job at raising her kids.
I feel really sorry for the first girls sister (can't remember her name! lol.), she seemed really upset at having to take over the running of the house and I can't help but wonder where the mum is?? I know the eldest unmarried daughter will help in running the house and the kids but isn't the mum supposed to do some too??? xxx

I don't necessarily think it's a shame that thats the way they live and I understand that it is a way of life just like women in Africa will walk miles to get decent water, it's a shame for us but it's a way of life for them and the way they see it, they are lucky to even get it so are not bothered about walking to get it but Marget looked really upset about her life changing, that's what I found a shame.

i felt so sorry for that little girl who now has to leave school and take over the cleaning :( no life at all for children!

i think the whole meeting and grabbing thing is a disgrace no one batted an eye lid when that girl was carried out screaming from the wedding reception or when another one was having her hair pulled etc... i'd kill if that was my daughter!! (so boys beware haha) xx

i think the reason why the groom didnt want his face on tele was to do with his business because although i have nothing against travellers i was a receptionist in an answering service call centre and alot of the clients were travellers and they were so rude to us all the time and we would have customers moaning about the work not done properly and the travellers were never seen again!! so i do think that if people saw his face and knew he was a travler then he wouldnt get so much work. alot of the customers who had work done by them were older people and i dont think they realised that they were travellers, xx

i thought this show might make them look better than their reputation but it makes them look even worse!! xx

no, thats true!! i did feel sorry last week for them when they were being kicked out of their home and they were carrying that woman xx

i agree with part of how they are brought up to respect their elders as a lot of people arnt these days but it is extreme how 13 year olds are treated having to clean all day every day.

do the boys leave school at a young age to? xx

yes the boys leave school ealry to but the leave to go to work and as for jobs the common jobs are scrap metal, tree surgons handyman servies and garden matinance as the dont have quilifations the ones lainee mentioned you need qualifications for so theyre not common ones :D

i think a few to many of you are taking the show to literaly as thats not the way we live, yes i clean and cook alday but thats my choice so is it every womans choice if they want to get a job they wouldnt be stopped but i want to be a stay at home mother and housewife and i love every minuet of it if you listen to the link on my wall you will find that the IRISH TRAVELLERS and differnt to GYPSYS and that irish travellers are 10% the other 90% dont grap peopel they dont have comminuions they dont meet in carparks and they dont beat there women

No they dont seem very happy to me. Good on that girl who decided to stay at school and get a job! How come the others dont decide to do you think? I mean, do they get a choice? I guess at that age a lot of kids want to drop out, i know i hated school at that age but still.
All seems a bit odd.
Also i dont like that grabbing thing, i think its very strange that mums, dads, brothers etc... find it acceptable to see their little girls treated like that.
