I took out wedding insurance in September with a company and they took my 'one off payment' out of my bank.. SINCE THEN.. I've had 3 letters and heaps of phonecalls(which have cost me a bomb) as they tell me I am not covered as I have not paid.
Last week I finally got a refund into my account.. and now I am looking for a new insurance company as I cant be doing with the hassle they have caused me.

I'm getting married in a Zoo so I need certain cover.. any ideas anyone?
    xx

go with a reputable firm. There are lots out there that promise you are covered and are a lot cheaper than reputable ones but you will find that nothing you have already paid for i.e. ALL deposits and further monies owed to companies you have paid a deposit for are not covered. We nearly got stumped because we almost did the same and I phoned david to check and he asked them to go through terms and conditions fully and there was a lot not mentioned on their site... we basically were hardly covered for anything in the wedding as we had already paid deposits on the big things. Therefore, we phoned D'hams and got brilliant cover. More expensive but covers all deposits already paid before the insurance is taken out x Good luck.

cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo

I have just had a major panic - i went with a well known insurance company and didnt even think about that - i booked my insurance the same day i paid my insurance so i dont think im covered. I remember though that when i tried to book the insurance before i booked the company were a bit funny and said not to til after - luckily i paid on my credit card so should be covered through that
Might see how much debs are for piece of mind!

We got our wedding insurance from E&L, was very cheap and covered everything and more than we wanted. Was recommended in one of the bridal magazines

Jillybean.. Wedding insurance costs depend on how much you need covered..
I think its a definate must for a wedding.. purely because you spend so much on it! Look at it this way.. my car is worth £1200.. and I have insurance for that. It's just so nessessary for an expensive thing..Just incase something awful would happen. xx

Wow! Im genuinley shocked! I thought it was a case if something goes wrong thats it it goes wrong. Its nice to hear that you can get some insurance cover and a bit of a relief! How is the insurance paid for? Monthly until the wedding or in one lump sum? And when is generally the best time to get it? Thanks Charlyzard! xXx

We are with e&l, we made a one off payment of about £30. As Nicsquared sayed anything booked before yuou take out the insurance is not covered so take it out before you book anything x

you can get the insurance anywhere between 2years and 14weeks before. Tends to be a one off payment.

ive looked for insurance but when readin the terms if we booked things before the insurance then there nto insured and ultimatly everything is only insured up until the moment we say i do, so our evening reception isnt covered, personally i think its a waste or money but then i dont know what im exactly looking for?

Our insurance was a one off payment of £40 but we're covered if any of the suppliers go bust and can't provide the contracted services etc, if your venue is damaged and can't host your wedding etc - as we were booking things a year in advance it definitely gives us peace of mind! At least is lets us know that if any of the suppliers can't deliver, then we can get a full refund of all monies paid up until that point as long as we had insurance in place when we paid any deposits etc.

However it doesn't cover you if say one of us jilts the other at the altar (but does provide free counselling!) or if we break up before the wedding and decide to cancel. As it was only £40 we decided to have it because since the recession a lot of businesses have been folding, and as we are using various suppliers as ours isn't an all-in co-ordinated venue, we were at risk if say the caterers folded. I think some venues won't confirm your booking unless you have valid insurance in place either.

The main reason we need insurance is because H2B is in the navy and need to be covered as he could get sent to afgan at any time, however i cant find anyone that covers that sort of thing.. anyone have any ideas?
