Hey everyone, I have tried a search and as far as I can see, there isn't a conversation like this on the go so...
I'm about to start my planning process properly and not sure which way to go about planning. I've checked various mobile apps but they all seem to lack something, whether that's an easy to modify budgeting list or a guest list that requires WAAYY too much information before you can save someone.
What are you using for planning? Online planner? Hard copies of ideas in a ring binder? Spreadsheets on your laptop?
Those who have already had their wedding, what did you find was the best planning method? Does anyone combine methods to make sure?

My best friend (and MOH) told me to buy a wedding planner to keep everything in. It's an absolute godsend. It has handy pockets to keep samples, supplier cards etc. I love it! I also have a small file which I keep larger items like invitation samples. My budget is on an excel spreadsheet but I also have a wedding app on my phone which has the budget details. The app is pretty good as it it's linked to the calendar and reminds of things I need to book/research/complete even down to selecting bridesmaids.

I suggest you start by using the brides checklist at the top of the forum.
Then set up your own spreadsheets based on your wedding, everyone has a slightly different format to their day and different types of suppliers. No two weddings are exactly the same so generic tools won't ever be a perfect fit for what you are planning.
I created my own spreadsheets for what I wanted and it worked perfectly.

I've got a note pad with general lists and then more detailed lists for everything. I keep a folder at home with all the brochures and the supplier contracts and keep an excel spreadsheet for costing's. I did download a couple of app's but they are so general and I didn't agree with the order they wanted me to do things so found my own notepad/planner helped the most.
If you read through a few of the checklists on here you will see what will be relevant to your wedding and just start making lists. it help's I'm usually such an organised girl though! Happy planning :) x

I bought a wedding planner but hardly used it - I found a lot of stuff in there wasn't really applicable, and there was stuff I wanted to be in there that wasn't.
I created a spreadsheet to record EVERYTHING... I had various tabs along the bottom for different things i.e. checklist, financial, guest lists, menu choices, questions to ask venue, honeymoon details, etc. I had columns for estimated price, actual price, deposit/balance paid so far, remaining balance due and when and a column to tick things off when they became fully paid. I also had a colour code system.. things that were booked but not paid for in full were amber, things that had been paid for in full were green and things I hadn't sorted at all were red.
It was an absolute godsend and allowed us to keep on track with everything.
