I am gettin married 2 days after Christmas but i loveee christmas and the whole family thing that Christmas time brings. Make it feeel all warm and magical so thats why i am having christmas!!
Was away for my dress fitting and the lady said the most common time to get married is june and july so i think that must be popular because of the weather. But rememebr, the weather isn't always guaranteed
Enjoy all the planning hun! xx

Now I always thought of a Christmas Wedding ...fairy lights, candles and sparkle :) ... been a long-standing joke with one of my colleagues about her choir singing carols. I love the colour red too ...... but I do fancy a garden party .... so the two don't work together!!! Plus my OH works in retail and is never allowed time off over the festive period ...boooooo!
You're right about the weather though and I think the last 4 years or so have put me off July (although this year was amazing).
I will watch with envy at your pics! :)) Good luck xxxx

IMO, September :)
But in all seriousness, is there a particular date that is special to both of you, like your anniversary or something like that?
Vegas baby!

How about having a garden party for an engagement party in spring and then have a christmas wedding- although I have heard of weddings with a christmas/ winter vibe not happening in winter i.e getting snow machines etc.
Id be totally biased and say May but in all seriousness there's so much to consider. Any dates special to both of you? Does weather bother you? Bearing in mind in this country its always a risk with the weather.
Out of season and midweek weddings are cheaper if you're on a budget. Consider also major holiday seasons and whether people are likely to be away and not be able to attend.

Budget is a massive part in this decision! From may to October is wedding season so everything is more expensive then :)

A friend of mine said she chose February as it could be a naff day. Turned out lovely. I've found that beginning of October or mid September seems a good time.

Well between October and may is considered off peak, whereas the rest are full on wedding season and prices and availability will be higher and more booked up... Winter weddings can cost a lot less esp during weekdays... We're marrying in May and I'm hoping the weather will be nice and not too hot but not too cold (hopefully)
If you're imagining a christmas wedding then follow your hear or failing that make mood boards for all four seasons and different colours and then decide what u want
Good luck

You may find that venue availability and pricing will make your decision for you. What's your timeline like?

We chose April as we like the idea of our friends being able to stay out and celebrate with us as hardly anyone will be working easter sunday! It also means all my work mates can come! :-)

All useful considerations, ladies! Our anniversary is 24th January, but as I teach that doesn't fit so well.
I must admit that last night I spent some time on Pinterest and looked at some mood boards etc with certain flowers. I LOVE Spring flowers and am picturing hedgerow wild flower arrangements. Then the worry that if a dodgy Winter (like this year was) nothing will be out in April as this happened to a friend and was so sad as she'd chosen 'bluebell' theme for dresses etc :(
Thanks for all your input xx

We are getting married at the end of May and originally we were looking for July/August as i also work in a school, but couldn't get it but I'm so glad we couldn't as the date we have has so many meanings to us.
Also, in May the past few Mays have been lovely in terms of weather and will mean you get lovely colourings in terms of flowers that are out too. Where we are getting married there is also the potential of having baby lambs in the venues fields. Also, again in terms of weather, it shouldn't be too hot so that you sweat a lot under your dress. Plus, its at the start of a Half term so we get to spend a week together after as husband and wife.

We thought that about May. Our wedding day it rained and was cold but when we needed to be outside taking photos in the beautiful grounds of our reception venue and also outside the church the rain held out for us so we were lucky. My arms were really cold though xx

We are getting married in August. You can never guarantee the weather in this country, but I was hoping August would be a good bet for nice weather
CommentAuthor*KelBel*
We only really considered may or September mainly because 1. They're not in the main three months of June,July,August. 2. The weathers not as hot ... Or as we put it ppl in those months always feel disappointed if it rains too, so the way we've seen it, if it rains we don't care and we won't be expecting red hot sunshine, hoping it'll be just right! 3. The flowers we wanted were in season for may and the others we wanted were in season for sept so would be cheaper.
We got engaged in October last year so in the end went for sept 2014 as it gave us longer to save and meant we could have sunflowers too which are in season x

I think its a really personal choice, and does heavily depend on your budget. We chose August bank holiday as a sunday was cheaper but being the bank holiday everybody is off on the monday anyway so causes no trouble. But we are crossing our fingers for sunshine after this years weather!
I think you can get really good midweek deals any time of the year - if you were set on summer or better weekend deals in the 'off peak' season more October - May(ish)

Its such a personal thing really. Initially I wanted to get married in october because thats the month we met but OH didn't want an october wedding because he felt it would be too cold and to an extent I agree, because I get so cold so easily so summer months do appeal to me. We eventually settled on June but if I was to choose all over again I'd probably choose July or August. The reason for this is that we have a lot of children in the family and they are all invited but since reading on this forum that parents get fined for children missing school, even for weddings etc, I'm now concerned that the families with children won't be able to make the day- do, so it would have been better if we'd booked for a school holiday period. Don't know whether or not you will be having kids as part of your wedding but if so it be something you need to consider :)

We opted for August as we want a friend of H2B to be able to come over from LA, and he works in an university. We ended up with the 30th because it's my birthday. We didn't deliberately aim for that, it was just that when we looked at Saturdays in August I realised that my birthday is on a Saturday.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Our date is in August but there is no reason for this other than blind luck!
A mutual friend got married on 1st September last year and the bride and groom took me and H2B away respectively and asked us both to pick a date. I wasn't allowed to ask any questions, just pick a date. I picked 15th August 2015, checked on phones calender and it was a Saturday. Practically fate! Then me and H2B met back up and we were asked which dates we had picked ... and we'd only gone and picked the same date as one another!! So, despite not being engaged at that point, our wedding date was set! Seemed silly not to go ahead with it when it came to booking the day =) x

I think if you are getting married in the UK there's probably no ideal time as the weather is so unpredictable. We are getting married on 01st March as I always fancied a winter/Christmas wedding but we can't get time off work at that time, in January everyone is skint, my OH was married in February the last time and so we settled on March. We picked the 01st as it's just after payday for all us monthly paid people and is a Saturday. Last year March 01st was a gorgeous sunny day but I think in March we could have anything from sunshine to blizzards and we're prepared for that whereas had we chosen a summer month I think we would have been constantly hoping for nice weather. We've also gone with white tulips as part of our flowers as I love spring flowers and tulips in particular. Another thing to factor in is cost- we are saving £1000 alone with the venue as it's off-peak and we have made savings with various suppliers for the same reason.

I think each to their own, some people want a summer wedding, some want winter wonderland, some want it on anniversary of getting together or engagement, some want it near some other date, some people want it in holidays due to work etc, some want it on certain days like, valentines, xmas, newyears as they love it etc
I personally am having mine on the anniversary of my gran and grandads wedding , which is the date me and my oh got together on backwards, aswell as it being in the summer as I hate winter.
Met June 2009 on my Birthday,Met again July 2009 and got

We chose July as I have been married before when I was younger (23 am now 40) my first marriage was in December but I didn't like the cold, although prices and deals are much better for those 'out of season' months. My H2B and myself are marrying July 12th and the only reason is because he proposed to me in July, and we got together on the 12th (although that was a December) We were just lucky how the dates worked out! An idea that I had thought of doing was middle date between both your birthdays, then choose the closest Saturday (if that's the day you would like to marry). If you really don't mind when you get married write all the months down and pick one from a hat! :) xx
