      Getting married in 18 months

So my boyfriend is the best man to his mate. The invite came through the post and was only addressed to him. It did not mention that he could bring a plus one so I clearly wasn't invited. I've met the couple a few times and I've been with my partner for 2 years so I was a little upset that they hadn't thought to invite me. My boyfriend seemed to think they made a mistake as the groom 'verbally invited us' when he announced their engagement. I can't help but feel offended and don't really want to go anyway but my boyfriend would like me to go with him. He mentioned it in conversation to the groom who was adament that I was invited and that I was 'discussed'. He mentioned that the bride may have "forgotten to print my name on the envelope" or "may not have known how to spell my name". The grooms great but the bride seems a little controlling from what I've heard and doesn't like any of the grooms friends. She's been quite cold towards me and didn't really seem that interested in getting to know me so I have feeling that I was intentionally left off the invite. My boyfriend seems upset that I don't want to go but I can't help but feel uncomfortable. Can someone shed some advice on what I should do please? Is it wrong if me to want a proper invite/ apology?

My general rule of thumb is if i'm not on the invite, then i'm not going to show up. If you've been verbally invited, i would just say that it would make you feel more at ease if you had a physical invitation with your name on, so you have all the details as you don't feel invited with not being on the wedding invitation.
