I think I've found the dress I like - its a Benjamin Roberts - style 1020. It comes in a traditional Ivory or a less traditional light gold (not a tacky gold I might add!) The thing is, I absolutely love the gold one, and both me and my mum think it would really go with the venue...but...my dad and by H2B are both quote traditional and I think they would expect me to wear something more like the ivory one, so do I go with my instincts and hope that they like it, or go with the safe option that I know they definitly would like?

Kelley - I think it looks better in real life that on the model in the pictures....its not as puffy round the bottom as it looks (im definitly not a puffy dress kinda girl!)

I am leaning more towards going with my instincts, I think im just worried because im really close to my dad so don't want him to be disapointed that im not wearing something he would deem as traditional, it took him a while to get used to the idea of a civil ceremony rather than a church!!!

My dad came over last night and we were showing him the website for out photographer - there was a picture of someone in an unusual dress - he said he thought it was nice to go for something a bit less obvious, a bit less "weddingy" - that helps make my descision easier!!! YAY!!!

YOU wear what YOU want..& lets face it if you tell a man you are wearing *whatever* they will automatically go 'Oooooh I dont like that' with no experience or guidelines to work from..so, wear the gold and metaphorically smack em in the chops with how stunning you look on the day!!!!

Thanks guys - I've only been to one shop, but looked at ALOT of dresses on the internet, and I just keep going back to this one. I think I may try one more shop, just so I can say i went to more than one, but I reckon i'll go back to this one - it was the first dress I tried on and I just think all the signs are telling me to have it!!!!
