Hi im new to this site and have some great advice from some of the ladies. you are all so friendly and helpful so thank you for that. Found a nice hotel i really like. What do you ladies think would be better? a church wedding or in a hotel? Im not really sure but i like both ideas. The H2B is leaving me to the plannin (for now hehe), im going to talk to him about the possible options but i dont know what answers i will get off him lol.

WEll the most important thing for a church ...would be that if ur religious or ur other half is religious or have beliefs..most churches need a couple to have been attending the church for a certain period of time before they can have their wedding !!!
im having a hotel wedding but its stunning and im also having a humanist ceremony which means i can have the ceremony how i like!!!

26th august 2012 Im really liking the whole hotel idea, we have some really nice ones where i live, i drove past a wedding being held at the hotle im tlkin about at it all looked stunning and then i got the idea in my head and now its seeming like a great idea, i no its not really the done thing but i proposed to him. after he had sed yes he did things properly tho and went to ask my grandad permission and my grandad gave us my nannas engagment ring from when he proposed to her 54 years ago :) xxxx

lol i no, i also wanted to ask him cuz i wanted to be different lol, i wanted to give him a surprise cuz he is always treatin me and surprising me so i wanted to do this. erm no not really the only thing that has been decided on is the page boy, flower girl, maid of honour and 1 bridesmaid, thats it rlli lol. xxx
aw thats lovely! our wedding ceremony is at our venue coz we are not religious,and its easier having it all in one place, coz theres no travelling inbetween etc x

tbh im down to my last 10 weeks and ive done 98% of this planning, h2b did his kilts at the weekend and apart from a little say on the guestlist, thats about all he's done apart from occasionally nodding to when im asking him a Q!! tut men for u though!! :D

I am religious and my h2b wants to get married in the eyes of God so we are having church wedding, but another factor for us was we didn't want to pay £400 for someone to come and marry us in a different venue when we could have the church with the bells and everything for the same price with hopefully some nice photos! But if it wasn't for the cost we would have liked to get married at our wedding venue too! Congrats on your engagement though, it still feels strange to me sometimes when i look at the ring on my finger, and i have been engaged for nearly 2 years, lol. xx

No one can really tell you whether to get married in a church or hotel.... it's completely down to personal choice.... but if you're liking the idea of a hotel then I'd say go for it!!

welcome to the site, i am having a hotel wedding, we did want church but i have been married before, and its going to cost and arm and a leg and a court case to get it annulled, so we decided to go for the hotel, and i am happy that we are as its going to be perfect and just the way that we want it x
I have know my soulmate for 27 years and on the 6th August
I married him and became Mrs Garnham.
It was most definitely the happiest day of my life.
I love married life !!!!

we're the same becca. all in one place cos the registry office is over the other end of town and it's a one way system and i have NO idea how to get to the registry office and to the venue! so we thought all in one place to make things easier and the venue is GORGEOUS!!!

thank you to everyone for your welcome comments, tips and advice. i m glad im not alone in all this wedding planning stuff lol, its great you ladies are easy to talk to and are good at advice. i dont feel like im going to tear my hair out just yet lol. erm ive just spoke tu H2B n he was really stressed, today hes arguin with his dad and is real down atm. He Says its nothing to do with me and him why he is stressed but there is something. he says he will talk to me when he gets home but y do i have a really wierd feeling in the pitt of my stomach?? Scared. Plz Help! xx

Thirdly- we chose church as we wanted a religious wedding with hymns etc. My H2B is a very strong Christian (I'm indifferent).

Ross and I are having a church wedding. Although I no longer practice is I was brought up as a Methodist and we're getting married in the church I was a part of. Ross has only ever been to church twice in his life, one of them was when we went to see the Reverend lol We're not expected to attend church prior to the big day, Reverend has been very cool about that, said it was entirely up to us (I think me quoting bible scriptures helped with that one though!!) We looked at civil ceremonies but both of us said they 'lacked' a certain sense of occasion. We've both been brought up with traditional values on marriage and the civil services are everything our values aren't (if that makes sense - probably not lol)
It's entirely down to the preferences you 2 have, there is no 'right' or 'wrong' way of doing it.
Glad he was ok when you spoke to him, I know how it feels when you've got a moody brooding one who plays things close to their chest ;) And trust me - before your 2 and a bit years are up you'll worry about loads of silly things hehe xxx
