After spending most of last night and today mucking about with our guest list I came up with what I think is a brilliant solution to save money and cut hassle down to an absolute minimum, go me lol I just wanted to run it by you all and find out what you think before I talk to Ross.
The service (pretty self explanitory lol) inviting all family and close friends
Afternoon Tea (our equivalent of wedding breakfast) An intimate few hours where high tea will be served to the guests - inviting immediate family inclusive of grandparents (but no aunts, uncles or cousins, that's where the silly numbers came from plus we rarely see any of them) Wedding Party and guests who have had to travel in excess of 50 miles
Evening reception - everyone plus a few other friends
Does that sound alright? xxx

But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

Um, what do the other family and friends do if they have been to the service but then have to wait until the evening reception to see you again? Do they go home and then come back again? x

Only theoretical at the moment Dove Service - 1.30pm so Afternoon tea - 4-4.30pm (got a session with the photographer at the reception and he told us to allow an extra hour or so) Evening Reception - 7-7.30pm
My aunty, uncle and cousin live no more than a 2 minute walk from the church and I would imagine that Ross' family would have a get together somewhere local and obviously most of our friends are local and can keep themselves amused or go back to someone's house (they all live within 15 minutes of the church)

Can you have the church service any later? Like 3PM? Then the afternoon tea straight after, then the photos, then the evening.
Then have the close family party the day after?

hmmmmmm you could be on to something there Dove - MOH and her hubby are staying with us but I'm sure they'd appreciate a bit of time out after the day itself so If the southern half of my wedding party go home early enough in the day then we might be able to do something on the evening, except it'll be a monday and I know they're taking monday off because wedding's on a sunday so it would be back to work tuesday.............. Sorry, thinking and typing lol
Service is at the time it is because the reverend will already be at the church and that would make his life easier (we're a considerate couple you know) Could go with afternoon tea straight after then the photos - then if anyone needs to go off and get changed before the evening they can do.
Thanks Dove!! xxx
