When's the earliest we. An get our banns read at our local church? As we are getting Madrid in a church that's not our local one so I know they need doing within 3 months before the wedding ( I think) but Wondered if we could get the local ones done now. ( 6months to go)

I would contact the church to ask. We get married in early April and the banns are being read in our parish church the first 3 Sundays in March. I'm not sure when the ones in the church we are marrying in will be read - probably a similar time. X

Every church needs to do them within three months of the wedding. They will need to be done on three consecutive Sundays, but they don't need to be done on the same weeks in each church. However it is too early to have them done now.

Yes you have to give the vicar who is marrying you the banns certificate from the other church. The vicar from the other church said we could pick up the certificate on the day of the third banns reading so you should have enough time to get it to your vicar. X

You have plenty of time to get the banns certificate to the vicar doing the wedding. I think basically they can't marry you without seeing it, so you've got until the wedding to get it to them. One of the vicars that read our banns, in the parish where my husband was living, passed the certificate straight to the vicar doing the wedding as they were neighbouring parishes and the vicars knew each other.

The banns were done at the church we got married at and our parish church at the same time. We got married at the end of April and the banns were called the first 3 Sundays in March. We wanted to hear them being called (good job we did because we were missed off the list the first week and they forgot to do them altogether the second week), so we went to the church we were married at the first two weeks and our parish church the third week to collect the certificate. The vicar who married us was happy for us to post the banns certificate to him.

To be honest our church has only just started getting into gear with things and we get married in 3 months, so give it time and they will get back to you. X

The vicar from our parish church rang yesterday and told us our Banns will be read the first 3 Sunday's in April. We aren't getting married there and don't know when the Banns will be read at the other church. I think it will be after.

The church your marrying at will normally do your banns after they've received your bann certificate from your local parish. im getting married the end of May so my wedding vicar rang today and told me to ask the local vicar to read the banns in April so my wedding vicar can do his in May, however on ringing the local vicar he explained he wants to do them in March so the other vicar has April or May to do them. Also I was worried about neither of the churches getting back to me but as Kirsty said they are just getting back to normal after Christmas .

It's been nearly two weeks and still not heard anything from local church! Going to go to a Sunday service at the church we are getting married at and meeting the new vicar and hopefully sorting some things with him and then will pop into local church see if I can catch the Rev then and see what they say unless I get an email first x

We are getting married at a church that is not our local church, I emailed the vicar in our parish and he said to let him know as soon as we have a date set for our banns at the church we are marrying in and he will set a date around 8 weeks prior to that. x

Keep pestering! We had the same problem getting answers from the church we got married at because the vicar was retiring and they weren't sure who was going to be conducting our ceremony! We got there in the end though :) It will all come together :)

The church we are marrying in have been lovely today and I think by Us Showing our faces they might remember to send the paperwork over but still no luck with our local church! Might email again or just turn up if no luck with that. As been told our banns are being read in May at the church we are marrying in x
