I know I have asked this before but I am getting into a stress over it. Spent ALL yesterday researching and doing wedding admin with my mom, frazzled brain by time I got home! So when I relayed everything back to OH including that we have found a potential band that has a free DJ option he asked me what that involved - basically they ring us up 3-4 weeks before hand to work on playlists for the DJ part, so no requests on the night as such but more in advance. Then the playlists are on whilst they have their breaks from the live music. He turned around and said isnt that a risk, not everyone likes live and not everyone likes not being able to request.
It felt like such a kick in the teeth, i'd done SO much hard work and he just cut it off! I understand his opinion I do, and ive been thinking all night about what to do!!! I grew up with a love for live music, and most of the events and weddings i have attended have had a live band and NO DJ option. originally he was all for it now hes like i want a live band but isnt it a risk? I said, isnt a DJ a risk too? You dont know what his personality is like etc.
I just don't know whats best to do. All within budget mind you so thats not even a way out! A band with this pre recorded playlist option A DJ A DJ/Disco A cheaper band with a DJ as well.....
He said that would be silly. and to just book the band, as it will make me happy. he's happy as long as i am. and as sweet as that is, thats not what i want to hear! I'm trying not to bombard him with wedding talk as he is a typical bloke and doesnt really give two hoots about it 'as long as i marry you thats all that matters' mumbo jumbo... but would be nice to be able to get his true opinion and make it our day. If i had my way we'd get married and thats that but the fact is, we have to organise a party too....
UGH!!!!

Lou, if Chris is happy with what you want booking, book it. Believe me, you won't notice on the day and people will be more than happy. As a suggestion, you could send everyone a message via text/book of face etc saying that you have now booked your music and you would like them to pick a song to help your night be more personal.
We did that after we had received RSVPs back and it worked a treat x
I really did marry my Mr Wright and we had a nice day for a

to be honest this is the kind of think im having. a wedding singer with a dj but no requests on the night, everything is going to be done before hand. i think its a great idea as its your wedding and you can have the songs you want without having some kack put on by your 12 year old niece or something and 1 direction coming on half way through lol. so yeh i think its a great idea. if you really want your guests to be involved then ask them to fill out a music questionnaire with the invites. thats what im doing, they get to pick 3 songs they would like to hear then i will pick some and put them on the must play list. hope you get this sorted xxx
oh dear lord a night full of 1D.... unfortunately my OH would be in his element...!! x

aha, I now see your thread Lula. You know MrsW is right (Wright lol) just go for it I'd say, you asked his input, he hasn't come up with much so go for it. The band with interwoven dj sounds the best option to me.

Definitly much clearer on this one Lou! I'd say go for it. If you've researched your heart out and this is definitly what you want then book it. You've asked his opinion and he's been lazy in a proper response so tuff - book it and tick it off the list! Xx
