We've put the deposit down on a band for the evening of the wedding and do have the money set aside for it. However, our venue offer a resident DJ in with the package and if we were to cancel the band, it would free up £1000 to sort out other little bits which we haven't accounted for e.g flower girls shoes, page boy shoes, bridal underwear. We could prob scrape together and find the money for these 'smaller' bits and bobs but having that £1000 would ease the pressure a bit.
So ladies, can you give me your opinion please? Band or no band?
Thanks
xx

Band or no band?
Should we forfeit the £150 deposit for the band to have an extra £1000 to ease the pressure of buying other things?

I think it just depends on your budget if you can't afford it then go with dj as its stressful enough organising the wedding. We've booked a band for our wedding as it was 1 thing we wanted as heard them before at a wedding and thought they were amazing and would make the night xx

It depends on how much you really want this band? £1000 is alot to pay out for something you are not sure/keen on but if you really want the band then stick with them xx

Thanks ladies.
The thing is we originally wanted a different band but they were already booked out for our date. We found an alternative band but as we can have a dj at no extra cost, we're now a little undecided

We have a DJ our venue recommended, it's the one they use for all their functions. x
We also have a resident DJ who is very nice, but we actually found a really nice chello player busking in town, gave us an idea to book her as a little treat durning the day. She only charges £200 for 2 hours (reception drinks and just before the ceremony - or during dinner), just wanting to build a portfolio. Perhaps you could visit a collage of music etc and see if you can get a band/ live music a bit cheaper to free up some cash.
I think they do make a nice extra, but £1000 seem a little steep for a compromise!
