We are contemplating having a band for the evening part of the day but I'm confused as to how it works. Obviously we will have wedding breakfast and sit down meal etc after ceremony and then from 630 ish onwards evening guests will arrive... we have the room until midnight so do we get a band for the full 6 hours or do we have a band for a couple of hours followed by DJ etc?

The only way I know is from previous weddings having a band throughout where we've had a ceremony, gone onto venue for sit down meal and had band before during and after the courses. Whereas at our wedding we'll be having a separate evening 'party' with buffet and cutting of cake / first dance etc inbetween...

H2B has surprised me by wanting a swing/jazz type band if we do go for band which is quite good as do love those types just never thought to suggest it to him but we just arent sure how to go about it? I have heard of bands that do have a DJ for in between etc.

I dont know, any tips or advice would be much appreciated!
