hi girls can you give me your opinions please....

originally for my reception i was having floral displays in martini glasses, but due to financial issues i have scrapped that and have now nervously opted for balloons. im also no longer having a wedding breakfast.

im still a bit unsure about this as im frightened it may look tacky. has anybody else chose balloons and if so how are they being displayed. i have opted for clusters of 3 per table, possibly sat on a medium sized mirror surrounded by tea light and glass sprinkles.

Also my venue table linen is white, and as im having a monochrome colour scheme (with hint of silver) do you think a black organza table runner with the above would be too much?

im really unsure as to what to do.

    xx

I've seen balloons at a wedding and they looked very nice, elegant and not tacky at all.

Can't wait until the day I become Mrs. Johnson :)

I have a friend whose doing my balloons and she has done loads for centre pieces and they look lovely. She does cluster's of 3's and 5's depending on the table sizes and staggers the height. I'm having 3's on mine in lilac, cadbury's purple and white. She also puts clusters behind the top table on weights on the floor rather than on the table so your not looking at your guests thru them playing dodge the balloon.

You can get the balloons from the card shops already blown up that morning ready to be collected. If you have someone that can go and get them and take them to the venue than it works out at £1 a balloon. You can make your own weights using xmas decs and then filling them with sand. (you may need to glue the top bit down once filled) You can also get 4 mirrors from Ikea for £4-5.00 and then put some tealights on there or some rose petals etc.

Im doing a mixture between balloons and foam flower centrepeices. I went to a wedding last year and they had used balloons and it wasnt tacky at all. If we can afford it i would love to do a dance floor arch with balloons but the cheapest ive found is £160. (seems a tad expesive for balloons lol).

my friend moved house so couldnt afford flowers and went for balloons but did this so elegantly. She had one purple, one silver and attached them to a heart weight. She also had purple sprinkles on the tables and almonds and wedding bubbles as favours. No place settings etc as she did afternoon tea and cake so no need to sit down other than for evening. It looked really nice.

Charlz...an arch shouldnt cost that much!!!Again, is you can go and pick it up from a well known card shop (C Cards) then it works out at a bit more than £1 a balloon i think. defo not £160. Go in and price them up.xxx

Personally I wouldn't have tealights - alcohol + fire + balloons not always the best option.

The balloons in their own with everything else you said will look stunning.

That is just my opinion though I'm sure it will look beautiful whatever you do xxx

I've seen balloons look great.....but I have latex allergy and would probably swell up and pass out or have a hard time breathing in a room full of balloons. Check out if any of your must have guests are ok with balloons, or you could end up with a nee naw interuption to your day.xx

I was at a wedding on Saturday with balloons as table decorations it looked lovely, not every table had them, several tables had tealights and mirrors with tiny bottles of bubbles etc

I'm not allowed balloons at my venue cos of the ceiling height, so think anyone who can have them should :) xx

Marie, I'm also having a monochrome theme and have balloons as my centerpieces. I have gone for the 3 cluster - black, white and then a silver marble effect balloon. I have the 5 cluster behind the top table as already mentioned as we also have flowers on the top table. So individual tables have white linen with a round mirror in the middle, the balloons, tea lights and then clear and black scattered crystals. The place cards alternate between black and white and then favour boxes are black with black and white ribbons and black crystals on the top. I think it looks lovely and we did see something similar at a wedding fair.

ive 'employed' a company to do my balloons in black, white and silver clusters of 3, staggered in height. i am also contemplating having an exploding balloon fitted above dance floor for first dance.

i was going to a celebration shop to sort them out but managed to get discount of the company im using then i dont have to worry about collecting them or setting them up etc, they will set them up and i get free delivery.

i am going to contact him to discuss him providing the mirrors (to rent) and get a price for runners.

Im lucky - have a friend and her partner who are doing our balloons on the morning of the wedding before they come to the ceremony! Her partner is under strict instructions not to go overboard as they are doing it for a wedding present for us and were talking about arches, ceiling balloons with confetti inside, walkways with balloons either side etc. I went very pale and said I just wanted a few groups of 3 around the edge of the dance floor and either side of the venue entrance to show people where to go! Hopefully they will listen to me! I'm sure they will.

were havin balloons for the night time do, were havin 7 5clusters and then 8 3 clusters on the tables then im havin 4 floor standing cluster ones, they will be staggered aswell we've oppted to mix the 3/5 clusters so it stands out more and isnt too much but so its not enough aswell. and i think they look gorgeouse if done properly. couldnt u possible ask her to make or buy and make one up your self? and put a white table cloth on with a black runner, to see if u get the effect of what it will look like? x

    *Jennebel*

im using a company called C.V. Events, he was based in 'celebration village' on bury new road. little bit pushy with his sales pitch but when i told him how much id already sourced them for he offered me a better price. in total i think im saving £5.00 but its a fiver in my pocket plus he said he will deliver and set up for free, as where the company i was going to use wanted to charge me delivery from tyldesley (7 mins away) or alternatively i would of had to collect and arrange myself.

where did you get the plates from? ive seen the normal mirrored ones in country baskets etc but never black. thanks for the offer of loaning them, but id be frightened to death of something happening to them.
