Hey everyone, do you think it's a bad idea to go to Fiji with an 18 month old? It's perfect in every other aspect apart from the fact that it's 24 hours away!! 9 hours to the Caribbean would be bad enough but we thought Fiji has it all, lots of character and culture and it's very safe( that was a concern about the caribbean and we were worried the indian ocean might be too boring and in the rainy season).
It's easy to be over worried with a child that young! It's just a really long flight :S
Do you think it's a bad idea? You can be brutally honest!!
I'll be grateful for any advice xx

i have no experience of flying with small children i guess it depends on what kind of child they are, if they hate sitting still for too long it will be a nightmare! xx

I have taken my son when he was 15 months to europe albeit it was a shorter flight but depending on the time of your flight you maybe lucky to have your little one sleeping through most of the flight. Only advice i would give is make sure you have their favorite toys/books to keep them occupied on the plane. Also most planes give out crayons and coloring pages too to keep the little ones semi entertained. Hope that helps a little :)

How about a short flight to see how he reacts?

jmr, fiji is amazing i'm sure you'll love it and the people are so friendly. everyone shouts 'bula!' (hello) when you walk past!
I'd probably recommend that you book with a decent airline that's a bit more child friendly than the budget ones. You could arrange your flights so you have a bit of a longer stop to break it up as well xx
