Ooooo exciting, that was the date we wanted originally but it was booked up in the two days it took us to call back, shocking! Although with the 8th we were lucky as the Church was free, might not have been as lucky if we'd booked the 1st :) welcome officially to the club ;)

My sister does photography and her second photographer is away when she has some weddings booked so she's asked me to step in, it's not much as obviously I'm not the professional and it's just to get different angles but means a few extra pennies towards my big day.

That sounds like a great opportunity Donna! We have asked a family friend who is studying photography to do ours, and we're thrilled she's up for it! We want really natural pictures of everyone enjoying themselves, then just a few of that standard groupings, but nothing too posed :)

How did everyone get on at the wedding fayre. IM FUMING my little cousins is in my bad books hes decided hes having the same tartan as us and as they get married three months before us I don't want people to say we copied them so im going for something different, his sister told him what we were going for and he still went ahead and got the same one.

Fantastic opportunity though Donna you never know she could use you more often :)

OMG-Elizabeth, that's horrible, I am sometimes a bit wary of telling people certain details of our day as I have a bit of paranoia about someone deciding to do the same but before us (silly I know to be paranoid about it) but what a horrible thing for a family member to do. Have you got a close second choice, it might work out even better then your original choice anyway :)

Yeah, I'm excited to have a nose at other people's weddings and what they do as well.

Our wedding fairs went amazing, the first one we went to was brilliant, I got so many idea's-I've decided I want fresh flowers now, just need to decide whether I want something more classic with roses or something with gerbera's..... found the cake I want and spoke to our violinist... then because we finished quite early we went down to another venue who were having a fair on who we actually we're going to book before as they had a really good package which was cheap and included everything.... so glad we went there as we really weren't impressed, so it was nice to realise we had def made the right decision... I also found ANOTHER shop to go look in for my dress (I already have appointments in 4 shops... whoops)

I was supposed to go to the wedding fair with my H2B & 2 bridesmaids, but H2B got offered overtime which he took, so just me & the bridesmaids went. I booked a photobooth :) H2B wasn't happy as I didn't discuss it with him (oops) he's calmed down now.
Had a good chat with our potential wedding car owner I explained that we ideally wanted 2 vintage rolls Royce's, he has 1 & 2 Daimlers. He said that his mechanic has a matching rolls royce & that he would speak to him about us using it & thankfully he agreed. So we now have a beautiful pair of vintage rolls Royce's

I also had what appears to be a good price for hair & makeup, but will get a few more quotes before booking anything.
Found suits also on offer of 5 for £300, we need 9 so will see if they can better that price, they also hire out shoes for £5 bargain.

Suits sound like a good price Keira, we got outs just over that for 5 (more now as we've added two) but it included a top hat from a chain store (suited us as it means FIL, ushers and best man can go to their local stores to get measured and pick up suits as they all live away from us) they're the company named after a colour and an area full of tree's (I'll post on your wall if you want the proper name)

What's everyone's opinion on roses vs gerbera's? I love them both and I've seen some classic bouquets with roses I love and a not so classic bouquet with gerbera's

    this one

    Flowers.jpg
    Flowers.jpg

Now I can imagine the button holes being roses, but not sure what gerbera's would look like, also I want this cake

    (or similar)

Do you think a bouquet of yellow roses and purple gerbera's would look okay, then have yellow roses for the buttonholes and cake and then purple gerbera's for the chair covers?

I personally think this bouquet is a bit mismatched, maybe it would look better with roses in the centre & gerberas around the edge. I love the gerberas on the back of the chairs it adds that extra finishing touch.

Erm... no that wasn't exactly what I thought :/ but might be how it came out. Think I may stick with roses, I love the Gerbera's but with me loving my cake with roses on and the buttonholes might be better sticking with roses (The bouquet is going to look traditional but fresh then with the bright colours anyway)

    what we had planned
    what we had planned
    2nd choice
    2nd choice
whilst looking for pictures ive come across a company that does the Lindsay tartan (H2bs tartan) H2b has his own kilt but I don't know if it will fit in with my purple colour scheme H2b and DS will be in this tartan and I think id like it to just be those two in it but don't know what to do now lol.
    H2b Tartan
    H2b Tartan

You can never have too much to choose from dress wise plus it will be fun.

Keira that is osme bargain on suits id contact the supplier and see what they can do for you.

I have been converted to fresh roses Donna after seeing them at a wedding fayre I think that's what im going to go for but I do love the flowers in the picture. like the chair sashes too. I think the yellow roses purple gerbera would look good.

Thanks for the link Donna but unfortunately there not local to us :(
I agree with Elizabeth that the flowers could work together but they need arranging better than above lol. Have u got a shop nearby that has artificial flowers that you could have a play around with.

Elizabeth I would be seriously peed off if my cousin did this to me, how selfish but then being a man he probably never thought anything of it & didn't do it intentionally. They don't seem to get the bigger picture!!

Yeah... at least we have loads of time to decide lol

I think I'm swaying more just roses at the minute, but that's partly because it was roses I held at the wedding fair and partly because I love the cake and buttonholes with roses and don't think they'd be the same with different flowers. Will see how I feel after talking to some more florists as well.

Such a shame the one I spoke to at the fair wasn't local as I might have booked her

Went to national wedding show on Friday and tried a few different dresses on. Really really liked one and was so tempted to buy it, it was 1299 but if you paid deposit at show it went down to 950 with half price fixed alterations which would of been fantastic as it had a lace overlay with a lot of details around the bottom. It's a shame that the offer was only valid at the fayre.. it's a bit too much pressure I think.

Went to our venues wedding after Sunday and paid our deposit for violinist.. she's amazing!! We asked her to play some music and my mum had tears in her eyes :)

Also seen a few potential photographers. There is one which I absolutely love, I know he is amazing as he was the photographer at my friends wedding who I was a bridesmaid for and I also used to work at the hotel we are getting married at so I have seen him at weddings loads of times. He is quite a lot over budget tho at 1800,he said to meet him for a coffee so he could `sort us out` but our budget is 1000 so I doubt it will be anywhere near that :(

There was another photographer there's who I am interested to organise a meeting with. He did a wedding a few weeks ago at our venue and the photos are exactly what we want, very natural I especially like the ones he did in the forest.

    Xx

    Whoop whoop Catherine :)

That's a shame about the wedding dress Gemma, do you know if they'll be at another wedding fair, then you can think about it and go and see them again if you decide you want to go ahead. I think you did the right thing, so many people say they felt pressured into something and then regretted it. I quite like that I've got a couple of vouchers for 10% or 20% off wedding dresses, so I can go try them on and I've not checked with the 10% one but the 20% one says I can wait and decide on it, I think the offer is on until the end of this year.... if not it's def for a few months, I'll check when I go especially if I see one I like.

Speaking of dress shopping, I'm going on my first dress shopping trip tomorrow :D can't wait

Ooo good luck Catherine, will they let you take them once you've decided on one and put a deposit down?

My mum was asking if they'd let me take pictures today, I have no idea if I can or not, but she was thinking it would be a good idea with us planning on going to a lot of shops she doesn't want us forgetting what some are like. I think it would be nice to, but I'm not too worried as I'll just try and remember which my favourite of the day was, only thing which would be nice about having a picture would be when I then go shopping with my bridesmaids I could bring my favourite from today into the discussion by showing them the photo.

I can't wait to go dress shopping, I'm putting it off until July/August time as I want to lose 3 stone first, I've lost 12lb so far so 2 stone 2 lb to go :)

I thought I wanted to lose a stone before the wedding, but been dress shopping today and I think I have found the one, I wouldn't want to lose too much and have it not fit as nicely (it gives me some lovely curves at the moment wouldn't want to lose that) I'll still try and lose some weight but not going to stress as much about losing a whole stone :)

I'm so excited though, the second dress shop I went in was amazing, there were so many lovely dresses. I love it and the lady was so nice as well

Gemma that sounds just like me with losing weight and then gaining some and struggling to lose it again.

I've decided I would still like to lose it, I do love the dress, but think I'll feel even more confident if I do lose the weight. So we'll see how I get on, as I've been really struggling lately. Too many social events on to lose weight, I need to get into my running again.

I'm looking forward to dress shopping again in two weeks.... although can't believe I might have found the one already, seems crazy

Now it might seem a little mad but moh is really worried about dress colours as she is very pale and has grey hair. Oh sister can carry off any colour so tomorrow is seeing what colours suit moh to stop her worrying and to also see what colour options I can go for.

Well i took moh shopping and it looks like I'm going to change my planned colour scheme. No matter what style of dress she tried on she always looked beautiful in purple. So I now need some ideas of what colour to have with it.

Also totally unexpectedly I tried on some dresses. The whole dodgy bra and thong being warn as I hadn't gone looking for me. I've fallen in love with a dress, twice what I'd budgeted but looking around online I've found a shop with the ex display dress half price. :) x

Kenya's ace - My Aunt and Uncle went on their honeymoon in 1997 (a while ago I know!) and they said it's the best holiday they ever had, the pics looked amazing too!

My worry with Kenya is the prices are either stupid money or twin rooms, normally on holiday we wouldn't mind having a twin room.... but for our honeymoon it would be nice if we could share a bed and not fall through the gap in the middle where two singles have been pushed together :/

How many of you have already bought your rings?

I've looked at rings online but haven't tried any on yet, not sure when I should start looking.... I might wait until after the honeymoon is booked and after the deposit has gone down on my dress, purely for the money reason (we have two savings accounts, one has the main bulk of the money in it, but I'd rather wait until as long as possible to take any money out of that as it has good interest as long as no money comes out and one is what our savings each month are going into to, so I'm better of paying deposits from that account if I can get away with it)

Were not buying our rings till next year going to pay for everything else first then decided on a design as we want them hand made by the same person who did my engagement ring

Ill get my ring nearer the time unless it comes down in price drastically, the ring I like that goes with my ering, either that or I will get one specially made as I like that idea and it's roughly the same price but it will prob be this time next year incase I lose a lot of weight don't want to have to get two rings resized x

I've got my ring as it's my OH's inheritance - Her Grandma gave it to her when she turned 18 and although my OH was going to wear it, it looked so much better with my ER than it did hers sadly but I adore it and my OH and Grandma is so pleased I love it and want to wear it :) only need to get it re-sized nearer to the time! xx
