Thanks Mrs K :D she's so much happier now and secretly I am relieved she said she wasn't happy as I had a feeling she wasn't... She's so thrilled and says thank you too!! She's lost 2 stone and looking even more amazing for it!

On our way to dinner we noticed a new bridal shop has opened in the middle of town! Currently my nearest shop is well over 30 mins away so this is big news. Looks like the shop stocks Mori Lee which is what my number one contender is so will be finding out if they have a sample of it as soon as they open on Monday. Eee!

I am shattered but glad tomorrow is a local holiday so only working Tuesday this week. We are going to a the queens baton relay finish line event tomorrow it's in our local park looking forward to it. Glasgow is a very busy place just now but it's so exciting I won't be going into the city centre whilst the commonwealth games are on except for the events we have tickets for. :-)

Mrsk I lve mori lee dresses stunning hope the new store stocks them.

You Scottish ladies will be pleased to know that Debbie and I are visiting Scotland on Wednesday (me for the first time ever so very excited as I've always wanted to go!) to meet our friend and incidentally wedding guest too in Edinburgh! Anything we should visit/go while we are there? Only got about 3/4 hours tops and needs to be local enough to Weaverly station I think it is :)

Im hopeless when it comes to Edinburgh. However I would say the castle is a great place to visit but not sure how close it is to the station. (I live in Glasgow and have never went to Edinburgh properly just the Zoo which is a great place to visit :)

Damn, shame we won't be there long enough for the zoo :( we've decided that we will be meeting them just outside of Edinburgh in Blackburn/West Lothian and Livingstone as one is coming from Glasgow you'll be pleased to hear! Might pop into the castle afterwards though :)

I'm jealous Catherine, I really want to go and visit Scotland, beautiful place. We've booked a trip to Bruges for later in the holidays though, we have been umming and arring about whether we could afford it or not and have just said stuff it, it will be nice to get away

I've lived in Scotland since I was 6 (now 29) and never been that bothered about seeing Edinburgh castle so can'tsay much about it sadly. I would recommend visiting Cowgate/Grassmarket but go by Cockburn Street from the train station. It's a curvy street with some great shops and is not as busy to cross as the bridge can be. There is also the museum on Chambers St which is fantastic.

Edinburgh is more a place I visit to shop or if I am seeing a band because it's too busy and crowded. Livingstone has their designer outlet so a good place for discount shopping.

For me true Scotland begins from where the motorway ends (Perth) so pretty much the Cairngorms and northwards. Beautiful country. :)

What a lovely Scottish holiday you will have :)

Having dress drama today, think I have decided, but want to show bridesmaids who are spread all over the country. We have a date in August booked in to meet up, but just found out my new local bridal shop can order in my dress but aren't going to get a sample. It would be so much more convenient to go through this shop, but I won't be able to show the girls. Toooo complicated :(

I didn't go for the one I originally looked at, I took my mum n mil2b to the shop sat morning and it wasn't open.. so we went to the other two shops and I choose something which I never thought I would.. going back in on sat to get re measured.. between the two bridal shops I went to on sat the measurements were different by 2 inches on my bust and 4 inches on my waist. So I called the shop and asked to be remeasured just to put my mind at ease otherwise I would be worrying up to january when my dress comes into shop x

    Congrats Gemma on ordering!

It's me that wants them to see it, they are happy with pictures as long as I am happy! My mum popped into the shop earlier and gave me some names of samples they have which she thought were similar. Looked them up and I don't like them at all! But this just makes me more confident I have found the one :)

    Hi guys,

Just wanting peoples opinions, as I mentioned above I eventually found my dress last Saturday and my mum paid the deposit.

While trying dresses on at the shop in which I brought my dress from I tried on a beautiful dress which cost £1500.. one of the reasons for not buying this dress was that is was to expensive. The lady who was helping mentioned about trying to get a 10% discount of the Dress.

anyway skipping forward a few dresses later I found my dress which costs £990, however I totally blanked and forgot to ask whether the 10% applied to this dress too..

I am going back in on Saturday to get re-measured (I went to two shops Saturday but the measurements given to me from both shops varied by 2inches on my bust 4 inches on my waist and 1 inch on my hips) Its more piece of mind for me to get re-measured.. otherwise I can see myself panicking all the way up until January when it will come into shop.

So my question is even though we have already paid deposit would it be cheeky of me to ask about the 10% discount? The dress was right at the top of my mums budget therefor leaving no room for a veil etc.. so was thinking of bringing this into the conversation too,

Thanks in advance guys.. I just don't want to try if am going to sound cheeky.. but then again if you don't ask I suppose you don't get :)

    x

I would say definitely ask, it would not be rude and you MUST haggle with everything if you can. If they cannot do that ask them if they can throw in the veil instead for you as it would complete the dress. Drop a hint (not an outright admission) that you will be considering getting your accessories from the store and it would be a shame to have to go somewhere else for them.

So far I saved £250 off my dress, £600 from venue and £200 with photographer. You don't get until you ask (or pester)

I don't really like asking for discounts etc, but I would have asked before your mum paid the deposit. In saying that there. Is no harm in asking.

I have to agree that you would have been better off asking before paying the deposit, but it's worth trying and she may offer a deal on the accessories or something.

Eeeekkkkkkk, the bridal store *finally* got the new collection of dresses in with THE DRESS in earlier this week. Popped in to make an appointment and they were free so let me try it on then and there! Well, as soon as it was done up I cried and knew it was THE ONE! So, my first instalment has been made and I can't believe how happy looking at a dress can make me haha!

Pictures in my albums (but not one of me in it yet). SO FRICKING EXCITED!!!! Looks like everyone's planning is going well - it'll soon be here :D :D

I'm not sure how we're going to be with photo's, which is one of the reasons we're having the engagement shoot as it's almost a bit of practice for the big day.

I just hope I don't look too chunky in all the pics as seem to just be putting weight on lately and we're away this weekend and can't imagine the food being any good (visiting in laws) so might be even chunkier by next Friday

I do like the idea of an engagement shoot.

I know the feeling with the weight doesn't matter what I do it goes on and not off. I'm so fed up and then I stuff my face full of crap. We go on holiday in October and I really want to lose something before then a stone would be great but don't see it happening.

I wish we did an engagement shoot, but after 2 and a half years it might be a bit too late!? To be honest it never even crossed my mind when we first got engaged!

Although saying that, my dad is a photographer so I could ask him to do a few shots for us as a very late engagement shoot, just so we have something professional before the wedding. :-) xx
