I noticed that the July 2015 brides have a thread and think there's a few of us Augusts on here at the moment as well.

We're getting married on the 8th of August 2015, when's your big day? How are plans all coming together

Yay an August thread, I was getting jealous of the July thread!!

I'm your wedding day twin :) Our wedding is at 4pm, we had to choose between early wedding with wedding breakfast but with fewer guests invited or late wedding with buffet which meant we could invite everyone, we went for the latter.

We have so far booked the church & reception venue, I have emailed photographers & transport for quotes. We will have the money this week to pay the church in full, we really wanted this paid asap as then its definitely going ahead :)

Aww Keira that's great that we'll be counting down together :)

I'm getting married at half 12 at the Church and then moving onto the reception venue which is an half an hour journey from the Church. Need to confirm with the venue what time the wedding breakfast will be starting ect. I know we have plenty of time but looking at booking someone to play some music while we have the wedding breakfast and she'd like to know timings.

We've booked the transport and said to pick up at 11, but I'm not sure now... What time should fiancé get there? I'm hoping to get ready at the venue so again it's half an hour to the Church but the cars will be going slower, I'd like to get to the Church a little early so we can have some photo's outside with my photographer, but obviously don't want to be there too early as everyone needs to be in the Church before me :p might stick with 11 for pick up (so he can set off around then) but I might not be quite ready to leave yet ;)

That was my next question, what time do you put on the invitations?

That's about right then, as he only needs to travel down the road so if he is picked up at 11 and taken straight to the Church. Would we put 12 on the invites or 12.30?

    hi all!
mine is 15th August at 3pm - very excited!

We are having our ceremony at the church H2B's mum and dad got married in and then on to our favourite hotel for the reception. We had to choose like Keira - an early ceremony with fewer guests (and a bigger headache!) or a later one with more people. We're not even bothering with a sit down meal, having a big fat BBQ on the terrace instead as neither of us wanted it to be too formal all day.

    We have so far:
    booked the church
booked the reception and paid deposit
    booked and paid for transport
booked and paid deposit for singer/DJ
booked and paid deposit for photographer
booked venue decorators and paid £150 off their bill so far
and we are waiting for quotes from videographers and cake makers.

I've also been scouring the bay of e and have my 2 adult BM's headpieces, my tiara, and a headband for the youngest BM, and we have superhero cufflinks for the wedding party.

    It's all so exciting! x

Ahhh don't talk to me about favours lmao

Yeah we have thought about them and so has MIL, I'd thought about the American candle wedding day votives a few weeks ago but fiancé didn't like the idea (MIL found them the other day as well and suggested them... and kept going on about them lol) but I have come round to fiancé's thinking as we think a lot of them would be left if people didn't want to carry them around, they'd end up being a thing for the women and we'd have to have something like whiskey for the men which with our guests is awkward as we have couples where the man is T-total and the woman loves a drink (so we'd have to give her the whiskey and don't think he'd appreciate a candle lol)

So at the moment we're thinking miniature drinks for everybody (certain people will have something we know they like, such as my nanna will have a baileys, T-total will have one of those mini cans of coke or a mini lemonade.

We've also seen some lovely cookies... we thought they were £2.75 at first which was too much, but then we've seen slightly smaller one's for £2.25.... so may still consider them as well as the miniatures. All depends though because then we are starting to look at about £4pp which all adds up.

No idea on kids, we'll only have two at the wedding breakfast. But probably some sort of activity pack. (One is my son who will be 7 and one will be my bridesmaids daughter who will be 18 months old.... so they'll have to be personal to them anyway as they won't want the same things)

I am not sure what we are going to do for wedding favours, I have worked in a hotel before and have seen wedding favours being left.. I was thinking of making a charity donation (my H2B brothers girlfriend has cancer) so was thinking a donation to a cancer charity or the hospital where she is being treated. And either have a little card on each place setting explaining what Favours I had done or maybe the little Shopping Trolley key rings xx

Because she is my only one I want to spoil her a bit so although she's only paying for her shoes (her choice) and we are paying for everything else including accessories on the day I'm going to give her a Swarovski tennis bracelet I absolutely love them and will get myself one too.

I'm also getting a make up type bag and filling it with little things like a compact mirror shower gel and miniatures as we are staying the night before in The hotel and a bridesmaid eye mask. Will add little bits as I go.

Funnily I've been looking at flowers too. I've seen the ones I love and fit in well with the tartans for the guys but I thought for silk at £70 it was a bit expensive however a few companies have came back with similar prices so may just bite the bullet. The woman I'm looking at is at the Scottish wedding show next week so will see if she does any offers xx

Flowers just seem silly money, I'm def going artificial as don't fancy paying a fortune for fresh and having the wilt if it's really hot. I've seen a lovely silk set which would go with our colour scheme, but I'm liking the look of the brooch one's and the mixed one's as well.... would I ruin the bouquet if I bought the silk one and added some brooches do you think?

That sounds lovely :) I have two bridesmaids, think I'll get them a jewellery set but might give that to them for the day so maybe a bottle of wine or flowers to give them during the speeches

    Thanks everyone, positive thoughts.

I have decided on artificial flowers, because they are cheaper and one of my bridesmaids has really bad hay fever so I don't want flowers to irritate her on the day.

My mums friend has just started up a vintage wedding business including custom made bouquets, stationary etc she's even making a bouquets entirely out of Swarovski crystals. I bet it will look fantastic but completely out of my price range, as the Brides bouquets costs more than my all my flowers.

For my flowers its going to cost around 200 and that's for 1 bride bouquet, 4 bridesmaid bouquet, 7 button holes and 2 flower girl wands. does this sound reasonable? I do like the idea of artificial, I was a bridesmaid March last year and our bouquets were Cream Gerberas, when I woke up the morning after the wedding they had already started dying/ going floppy :(

I love the idea of the broach bouquets too xx

I was set on having artificial flowers, then went off the idea & wanted real, now I have no idea what I want lol
I think I'm going to get some quotes for real flowers & if they come back to expensive then I'll go the diy artificial route.

Still haven't decided on the cars either, the cars I prefer at the moment will be at a local wedding fair next month so I'm going to hold out until then. Hopefully seeing them in the flesh will make my mind up on that one.

What's everyone's plans for tonight?? My OH wants to go out for a meal but all I keep thinking is that we'll easily spend £100 & that could go towards the wedding instead. getting married is making me so tight lol

Ive had quotes for both real and artificial and tbh the real ones aren't coming in much dearer. I like the idea of keeping the flowers for evermore.

Gemma I think that's a great price Ill be about £100 just for my bouquet and one Bridesmaid bouquet. I mthinking about having a champagne run (30 mins in a car just me and Hubby time to ourselves on the big day) But not sure if we can fit it in it will cost £145 Alan says its a waste of cash lol.

We aren't doing anything tonight we don't celebrate Valentines day we buy a card but that's it (Its far too commercialised and a rip off)

These are the flowers I would love

Gemmaf238 I found the mint one on p!nterest (searched mint bridesmaid dresses) the coral ones are from k!ssy dresses. I love them, my mil thinks there to plain but when describing what she thought would look nice she basically described a big prom dress lol. My bridesmaids love this too, so hopefully it suits them.

I like quite plain bridesmaid dresses and my bridesmaids agree (in fact they like plainer then me, I found some which had a ribbon/corset tie for the back and one said it looked too bridal lol) you have to think they'll have a nice bouquet to go with it and will have all their hair done, it can end up looking too much. But obviously each to their own.

I love those flowers, they look lovely hun. Maybe have a play about with your budget or see if you can save a little more to see if you can afford them.

I can't decide between something like this

    or this?

Yeah Ill be getting buttonholes too so she may do me a deal I need 6 buttonholes but they are £8 each. I think I have totally underestimated the price of flowers oh dear lol.

Im going for quite a plain BM dress too, My dress is a showstopper IMO lol so don't want my BM's dress to be the same.

Donna I love your flowers too (I didn't know I had such an appreciation for flowers lol)

We have decided on favours.... our problem is we've decided on two which will add up to about £4pp.... which goes up to £200 something ...... I think we might end up with both though as love them

We're going for cookies and miniature drinks

We have decided on miniatures for the guys but don't know for the woman. Just going to keep looking and see what really takes my fancy x

Could you not to miniatures for the ladies as well, we are, not decided which drink yet (certain people will get their favourite drink but most will have the same)

I fancy something different for the ladies. the guys are just getting whiskey miniatures.

My sister is having miniature molton brown sets
I did think of candles but my friend had that
I also thought of compact mirror and this is still an idea but not sure.

    TOG = photographer, sorry x

We have decided on 50cm Martini glasses for centre pieces but can't decide on which flowers I like for them. Been considering favours again and thinking I might not bother with them, we are having a candy buffet so might just personalise bags/boxes for that.

Winning my dress was awesome, now just need to get it altered as the designers sent it out unaltered, needs tonnes taking off as it's way too long (I am 5ft 3.5 lol).
