Pfffft, the opposite to mine then! Lol. Although MIL has offered to pay for the cake but will have to ask her every few months just to make sure! FIL isn't helping/doing anything, h2b said he won't even wear the same suit as h2b, my dad & groomsmen etc, so I can sense he's going to be a pain in the bottom! My parents are helping out a lot though xx

They have never done it before so I dont really know what to expect. I'm just worried it will come with strings attached, in which case I don't want it. I know that sounds really ungrateful but it is our wedding and I dont want to be told what we can and cant do because they are helping out with it xxx

mum's always do. Linzi-jo i think being clear with the inlaws that you are grateful but it is your day normally works but everyone is different. /you never know they might like your plans anyway x

Hello everyone. Me and partner are getting married 2nd August 2014 (2/8/2014) all these numbers in this date are special to us and have meanings behinde them so seemed right choose this date for our wedding day :) unlike most of you organised brides we have only booked the church, reception venue, transport and cake (my aunty has a cake making and decorating buisness and has kindly offered to do our cake) We are currently looking for a photographer.. what nightmare this is proving to be!! There are so many out there offering different things at different prices. I'm like a rabbit in head lights!! Anyone have any suggestion on how to pick the right photographer!?

So, the inlaws to be came round last night and they are going to give us £3000 towards the wedding! Huge weight off for us! (and they said they will try and round it up to £5000 but they definately have the £3000 now and anything extra they save within the next year and a half will be given on top, up to the value of £5000). I was so shocked as they dont have a lot and so wasn't expecting anywhere near that! Hope things are going well for all you other August brides! Oh and I just booked my transport for the day for £200! Another thing ticked off the list! xxx

I know! It takes a huge weight off my and h2b's shoulders as we had no idea where all the money to pay for the wedding was going to come from! But now we only need to save £1000 and aslong as everything stays in budget we will be fine! How are you getting on Siany? Or are you at a standstill now? xxx

I know that feeling! lol I need to sort out a band and the cake, but cant really do the cake until Easter as I'm at uni until then so cant go cake tasting until then lol but at least it means we shouldn't be in a mad panic a couple of months before as everything should be pretty much sorted by then! xxx

Haha, yeah LinziJo I feel a little over the top with my wedding book that I have. Everything is down to the correct pennies and pounds haha, but it's because I don't want no hundreds of pound surprises, I'd rather have a general idea of costs and be 20p off than hundreds off. I'm useless at keeping surprises aswell or anything exciting, I have to work out how it's going to be done, where etc, so when we talked about our wedding that was it, I was away! Haha, you're getting married 8 days after me :)

With us having two little ones Linzi-jo, I want a honeymoon for all of us, Its just not right that me and h2b go away, I cant leave them I wouldnt be comfortable so we are planning to go to disneyland paris as our honeymoon :) We are all away together and we can celebrate as a little family :) xxx

I have only just this minute joined Ukbride and am loving it already ! I am getting married on July 26th 2014 and cannot wait ! I am so excited its unreal.

*chosen my dress
*sent out save the date cards.

People keep telling me I am planning too far ahead and I have ages to go till me wedding, its actually nice to find lots of other people that are in the same boat as me being excited and have planned even more than me, I feel behind now :P

Hi Lynsie, congratulations......u not planning too far ahead....i had six weeks to plan my first one and i was running round like a mad woman, this time i have plenty of time to sort things and have exactly what i want this time and also im not getting stressed about stuff.

Planning well in advance means we can also enjoy the experience of it all and will arrive at our wedding days chilled and relaxed....well thats my plan anyway lol xx

Really dissapointed :( I got in touch with a band a couple of days ago (they are a Greek band as h2b has Greek heritage) who quoted us £950 for 3 hours of live music (both Greek and English songs) and then a DJ (provided by them) for the last 2 hours. But today I realised that the date they had down was 30th August 2013, not 2014 so when I got back to them and told them they had the date wrong the cost went up by £150 as they previously thought it was a Friday wedding, but in 2014 it is a Saturday. Now we dont know what to do! H2b really wants the band as it is part of his traditions but I'm not sure if we will realisticly be able to pay out £1100 for entertainment! They ask for a £200 deposit and then the rest is to be payed off on the night but I really don't know what to do! H2b really wants them (I would be happy with just a DJ) and the other Greek bands we got quotes from were in the region of £4000 just for the live parts and then we would have needed a DJ on top! This band also don't expect tips (in Greek culture, when guests get up to dance for the first time they put some money into a jar to request the pleasure of dancing with the new couple) and the other bands wanted this money too. So they are good, its just all about cost. Really don't know what to do :( any advice? xxx

Well they do the Greek and English music live and then also the Dj bit at the end, and they sent us a disc of their music and they are really good! And my friend who is getting married in August has just booked a band with DJ for £1600 and thats just a normal English band (they are good too) who do covers of songs. It's just a lot of money! I'm not someone who spends lots of money on things! I always look for the bargains lol but this is the best price out there and they are better than some of the ones who wanted more than double what they do! They also come with a Greek dancer who will show the English guests how to do the traditional Greek wedding dances so that everyone who wants to join in can. I do want them, its just the cost that is bothering me and stopping me from booking them! lol xxx
