We've paid the next installment of the reception. Finalise payment is end of July. I'm hoping my wedding ring will be ready soon, should be this week.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

CommentAuthorclairenina
We won't be going on our honeymoon until 2015. I've been looking into some of the destinations we are interested in, and the best weather is around March time.
CommentAuthorKellyN29
saving seams to be getting harder as we come closer! I thought we would get better but saving so much for so long has been a struggle. the pots and water diet might help with the weight loss though lol. My bridesmaid bought my tiara last week :), starting now to print evening invites and to sort all the stationary - so much to think about.
CommentAuthorMrsX2b
Im trying to do day invites kellyn29, It seemed like fun at the start now my head hurts lol. Iv wasted soo much paper. Clairenina where you looking at for honeymoon, Prices seem so high for next year when I looked.
Still need to save around 4 and half grand ...... jeez! :(
CommentAuthorclairenina
we're looking at quite a few long haul destinations, not really decided yet.
Anyway, last night we went to our food and wine tasting session. It was amazing. Really exceeded our expectations.
CommentAuthorbarbie86
Finally got a paper bank statement through for proof of address, so, we can make our appointment to give notice, eek!
Starting to all feel very real now!
CommentAuthorKellyN29
very real barbie!! exciting too tho, i get nervous every time I think about visiting the vicar. MissX2B a lot of paper has been wasted here too but it gets easier once you get in the swing of it - how many invites do you have to make? Tasting booked for the 18th March (hope I like it)

Iv got 32 day to do then 15 for evening, its not going to well lol.

MrsX2b: I hear you re DIYing! We DIYed our save the dates, it took ages, it went wrong... We had every intention of also DIYing our invitations, but by the time I'd priced up materials and professional printing, it was coming out at about £4.50 per invitation, so I decided to contact someone to get a quote and see. They quoted £7.20 for the day and £5 for the evening so we ended up going with them (though that's still been a headache; long story!).
But, I work 2 jobs and am studying full-time so really just did not have the time. Hoping still to make my own seating plan though, and we're semi doing the place cards ourselves (ordering them printed for 30p each, and then adding some ribbon and a pearl/diamante thing).
In barbie-related news, we've booked our appointment to give notice for next Tuesday, eek! And we're picking up the invitations tonight and sending them tomorrow, can't wait!

Hi barbie86, Why do invites have to be soo expensive lol, My quote was 6pound each for day. It was a pocket invite but if I can do them myself its not a lot at all. I had a mock one made and realized today that the church postcode is wrong which means my map is to lol.
I would give up but I spent over 600pounds last week on my 3 bridesmaids dresses lol. I was lucky with place names. te5c0 had packs of 10 on sale for 32p so I brought 8 packs only realized when I got home she only charged me for 7. I bet you cant wait for your invites you will have to show us. I want your honeymoon lol that's a long time away. I stayed at riu palace peninsula, I could of lived there, It was amazing.
Im off to the post office now to pick up my 3 bridesmaid bags which I ordered off line. Not sure what there going to be like as what I paid lol fingers crossedxx
CommentAuthorbarbie86
TBH after making my save the dates, I totally see why they're so expensive; they're blimmin' time consuming to make! lol. The mark-up we've paid on ours is only about £2.20 and it's saved me loads of time, so, I'm OK with that (though it was an added expense we hadn't budgeted for). I'll pop a pic in my album once we've collected them :-)
And I hear you on the bridesmaid dresses! We got a discount, so they came in less than they were everywhere else (20% off), but, one of my bridesmaids needed extra length which added money on, and they all need the length taking up and the bust taking in, which is costing £80 PER DRESS! Urgh.
Hope your bags are good!

Started getting rsvps back, quite exciting when you get an email through the wedding site or a card through the post! lol I've gave everyone till 1st may then i will be able crack on with my table plan and personalised stuff x
CommentAuthorMrsX2b
Noooo the horrible lady wouldn't give me them in the r0yal ma1l office I only had a bill with our add and both our names on it, and my id and my h2b bank statement as its in his name but she said I need his bank or credit card or passport etc, So il have to wait til h2b goes so 7ish I guess.
Barbie im telling my girls they can pay if anything needs changing lol as there all on diets and iv spent so much on them all ready. Mine retail at 270 a dress but 1 shop had them for 215 each but not my colour, But I found another shop who said they would beat there price at 200 each, Not bad going either and its classed as a special order as there being made my colour, although im broke lol
Gonzo that's good there sending them back alreadyxx
CommentAuthorbarbie86
Oh no, that's rubbish! Has he collected them now?
Yeah they're crazy prices, aren't they?! We're paying for the alterations and their flowers, and I'm getting them each a gift, but are asking them to wear their own shoes and do their own hair and make-up, as the dresses cost a lot more than we originally planned (originally we were going to give them £100 each towards a dress of their choice, but then we decided we wanted them semi-matching (ie same length, colour and fabric). ARGH! lol
Picked up the invitations and they're gorgeous, really pleased with them. Also really pleased because I forgot to ask for a keepsake one just for us, but she made one up anyway :-) Had an embarrassing moment though where I got a tiny bit choked up as seeing them made it feel so real; not had any moments like that yet!
I'm currently working on our wedding website as it needs to be up and running asap for when the invites go out; and it's taking forever! You wouldn't think it'd be that difficult lol
CommentAuthorMrsX2b
Yes there not bad at all lol, 1 is perfect 1 is very tight to open and the other is perfect but the bit on the front has came off a little but I will glue it back down. I paid very little for them and once there sold out u cant buy more so im not bothered about sending any back, As there the perfect bag for the girls dresses.
Im not paying for hair or make for them either and they all just want flat shoes. I know what you mean lol I wanted a dress which looked good on 3 different body shapes so none felt out of place and its took years lol but got them now
That's lovely she made you one, Il have to remember that when I do mine lol. I think invites is a big part and such a weight off your mind. Need to get on with mine lol but I feel ill Iv been off work tody.
Well good luck with your website and hope you get it sorted. Im trying to get a picture of my bags off my phone to laptop and cant even work that out lol so I deff couldn't do a website.

They're lovely! For some reason I thought you meant dress bags and was slightly unsure what was so exciting, but I was like 'Eh, I'll roll with it!' lol.
Re the website: it's SOOOO easy. It's free through this company and they have templates; literally all we've done is added a couple of photos, and then gone in and added blurb for each section (eg accommodation, parking, ceremony, reception, etc). It's great because you can set up an online gallery so that guests can submit photos after the day (you moderate them first, so no dodgy ones lol), or can submit a photo to go in the guestbook, and they have a comments section for messages, and a contact form so that if people have questions they can ask you. You can also have a link to your gift list if you're having one, and there's a function where people can put in their postcode and it pulls up directions to your venue/s. I'm really chuffed with it and think it'll be useful for the guests, I can send you the details if you like?
CommentAuthorMrsX2b
Lol, I wanted that type of bag but needed 3 then p&p so was like coming to 35pound plus which I think is to much for them for 1 day. These are on bay for 10.99 each and others were like 15pound plus, But I got these for 5pound each and 4pound p&p so well excited lol and then I went to pay h2b and he said as they are so nice and were only 5 each he would get me them lol. There even more pretty in real life.
The website sounds great, id like the details thanks. How long ago did you book your honeymoon? Prices seem so expensive to last year.

MrsFarrelly2B I keep thinking I'm missing something too. I am at about the same stage as you , so hopefully that is about right :). Need to book with hairdresser as no idea what I want have my veil and tiara now so just need to book with her. I have asked my mam for makeup package for my birthday. BM are getting their own shoes I have bought a bag for them to put their gifts in as my gifts are for them to use on the day. Need to start thinking about table decorations - I have the lady booked but I can't quite picture what it will look like and can't decide on coloured napkins or not, coloured place cards or not!! too many silly things to think of that really are not important.
Had our second dance lesson last night, the teacher has used a computer to speed up our song to make it fit better and surprisingly it sounds great. Also started the gym this week so weightloss better start now too lol ( I am eating less and keeping busy but the weeks are just flying by)

MrsX2b: add me as a friend as your page is restricted, and then I can message you the info :-)
Re honeymoon: we booked AGES ago lol; back at the beginning of September! Pleased with what we paid, but we're delaying until October which brought the price down dramatically; I've had a look and prices seem about the same as when we booked, though if you go in August obv things are much more expensive.
MrsFarrelly2B: I think for me it's all the little things that are stressing me out, like choosing music, and readings, and giving notice, and getting the RSVPs back so we can do the seating plan, etc etc; I find it all really time-consuming and a bit of a headache! That said we're getting there now and have very few things left to do, which feels great!
CommentAuthorKellyN29
OMG readings - I forgot about that - there seams always to be something to add to this list.
CommentAuthorbarbie86
KellyN: yeah, that's pretty much how I feel lol.
I was feeling all smug up until Christmas thinking how we've booked the photographer, venue, chosen the food, bought my dress and shoes, bought 3 of the bridemsaids dresses, booked the flowers and music, etc (ie all the big things), then I sat and made a list and was like, 'Hmmm, still have 101 things left to do somehow...!'
And I find some of the smaller things so time-consuming. Like choosing the invitations and sorting out the wording, then stuffing them with the bits and pieces, taking them to get weighed and getting stamps, stamping them etc has probably taken up about 20 hours of my time; which is insane!
CommentAuthorMrsX2b
Thanks barbie86. MrsFarrelly2b, I only brought there bags as I want them to match there dress and so they have somewhere to keep there phone. You sound like your doing good so far. I to still need my shoes etc and I must start making invites again now I feel a bit betterxx

Currently still waiting for day RSVPs (should have been back by 1st April) before sending out evening invites. We ordered our invites online was really cheap but excellent quality and matched our theme perfectly of blue roses.
Also finalised our order of service last week which was great! Next on list of things to do is my hair and make up trial this week and menu tasting next month.

Our invites are so beautiful, I love them. She was a nightmare to deal with (the person who made them), but she is so good at her job. We had a late night last night addressing them, and they are going out today.
Just wish I could get so excited about it, but struggling to lose enough weight, and don't yet fit into the top of my dress

I'm hopefully going with my MOH to get fabric for the remaining bridesmaids dresses and pageboys waistcoats on Saturday. Next I need to arrange to record my entry music, and contact the hotel to find out the size of the tables so I know how big the bases of the centre pieces can be, and also to find out how to arrange the menu tasting.

Just bought fabric for bridesmaids dresses. Still need to get the fabric for the waistcoats as there wasn't enough ivory. Also I've arranged to record my entry music, and I'm waiting to hear from the hairdresser regarding a date for a trial. I've also got the sizes for the centrepieces, they're going to be quite small as the mirror plates are only 33cm across.

We posted out our invitations a couple of days ago.. I'm just filling out the vows forms for the registrar. Why does it ask for our fathers occupations and not our mothers? Also if our Dads are retired, can we put that, or do we have to put their professions before they retired?
CommentAuthorMelanieR15
I think it is tradition for religious ceremonies, that is what I had to do too. I would presume you would put retired then what their previous occupation was for example retired caretaker.
I have been sorting out evening invites tonight - the taste of envelopes is now stuck in my mouth - gross!! Excited to send them all out now though.

Well, we've been quite busy!
Collected the notices last week, and taking them to the registrar where we're getting married on Wed, along with our form with choice of vows/readings/witnesses etc. Also on Wed we're sorting out the equipment for our DJ.
My mum got her hat on Thursday, and has decided on shoes and bag (dyeable ones; just need to order them), and I got my 'something blue' (really cute lace thong with 'I DO' on it in crystals; tacky but I love it!)
Also sorted out my MOH's dress (she's wearing an ivory structured shift; other BMs are in floor-length green chiffon); should arrive this week and then we need to get in altered (taken up about 8 inches and shoulder pads removed)
Going suit shopping with my OH on Friday which TBH I'm dreading lol; he needs to get a grey lounge suit, a black tux, 2 shirts, a waistcoat, and shoes, and he is a NIGHTMARE to go shopping with (super fussy; spends ages faffing about)!
Then last night we sat down and have pretty much sorted the playlists for our string trio, acoustic guitarist, and band; just need to organise the DJ playlist which will be much harder as we're going from scratch rather than picking things of a set list :-s
RSVPs are rolling in thick and fast from the day guests which is nice; I'm hoping not to have to do any chasing for the day guests, but we shall see. Evening guests are another story though... :-s
CommentAuthorCheekyTerri
Wow! Barbie it sounds like it's coming along nicely! I wish my RSVPs were coming in in any format, as we seems to have only had a few. Fingers crossed we will get a push next month as they need to respong by June 1st!

Terri - I know what you mean. We have had 1 RSVP back so far lol I have only given people until the end of this month, so hopefully a few more should start coming in soon
Melanie - I think it might also be to do with that silly old fashioned Census, where you can see online in 100 years time what mens professions or jobs were lol
Went for my first ever automatic booth spray tan today. I opted for the medium, but not sure if I should have gone darker. I have my own machine at home, but it was nice to go somewhere and have it done. It took me ages to find an automated booth near to me, as I will never take my clothes off in front of other people and have them do my tan. Anyway it's turned out really nice and even, so thumbs up from me, and will go back again sometime
CommentAuthorbarbie86
Terri: it's annoying, isn't it? We're currently waiting on 12 day-time RSVPs, and 7 evening ones, with a deadline of May 1st :-s Looking like I'll probably have to chase, which is really annoying. It's particularly irritating because we've offered menu choices, which I need to collate and get to the venue; and I'm quite surprised at the day-time guests who haven't replied (OH's immediate family (!), and some very close friends of mine); grrr!
Elinor: do you know what sort of cake you want? Must say I enjoyed that bit, for me it was one of the easiest things to do, plus it's lovely tasting yummy cake! lol. Let us know how the make-up trial goes!
clairenina: glad the tan went well; I really don't know what to do about tanning for the day. I'm off on holiday in the May half-term, so hoping to get some natural colour then, and may have a few sunbeds and squeeze in some tanning in the garden if we get the weather! Def want some colour, so if that fails I might look at fake tan but I'm worried about streaks/it coming off on my dress :-s
