And also bear in mind this is something the MODS are doing (with J permission of course lol) out of our own free time. something we don't have to do but have decided would be nice for the members. I truly am sorry to anyone who is annoyed at having to wait but look at it this way, only a few short weeks to go for it to start as a permanent fixture.
Well ladies we ( the moderators ) have been sat having long discussion about what we could do to make things a little more fun for you and gain you extra points .... we know how much you like extra points.
And we are going to launch a new cometition which is open to EVERYONE .....there will be prize of 10,000 points awarded each month to the person that we think is *** Member of the Month***
To be annouched the 1st of every month!
....
The prize will be given to the person that we think has been the most helpful or who has made the best post (not thread)
the decision of the Moderators is final
We would like to remind members that this is a prize for most "helpful" not most "persistent" so posting random nonsense may hinder your chances at scooping the prize.
NOWHERE does it say 'we are going to trial this for August only and then start it for real in January'. Unfair and misleading, hence my asking. I'm not interested if you are doing it for free/out of your own time as you are CHOOSING to do it - at any point you can stop being a moderator if you want to. I am interested in WHY it was only for one month and then forgotten about. Why were we not told? Now we're told it will launch in January. But there are people who have been REALLY helpful in September and October who should get the 10,000 points.
Oh well, good luck in January ladies.

*****me speaking as a member here and not a mod******
"I'm not interested if you are doing it for free/out of your own time as you are CHOOSING to do it"
Your opinion as it may be.... bit harsh is it not?
We're members just like everyone else on this site and don't deserve a "telling off" cause of some detail not being added to the original post. We actually do a hell of a lot more things on here than people give us credit for so whether you're "interested" that we're doing it out of our own generosity or not the fact still stands that it's not something we HAVE to do. Yes i can stop being a mod if i don't want to but in my original post i did not state i want to stop i merely pointed out that the M.O.M idea is not "part of the job"
Yes clearly the mods have screwed up by not adding that into the original post but we all make errors. We're only human, I might not have written the post myself but still take offence to ALL the mods being pounced on for one error. As for the Sept/Oct "would be winners" we have been keeping track of "most helpful members" and as Hails pointed out we're in the middle of arranging "annual member awards" (or something to that effect) so believe me the deserving people will not miss out, not from those months and not the women who were "outstanding" in the months prior to to the monthly award being announced
Sorry if I've taken on a rant as I've always gotten on with you but, as I said the comment was a bit harsh especially the "I'm not interested bit" Like i said, we're only human and we all make errors. Of course everyone on this site has the right to question things but please remember we have feelings too and would never be so harsh and critical towards you guys.

I think Tinsel was trying to say that it doesn't matter if it's part of your mod duties or not, if it's something you guys have put together then it's your responsibility to keep everyone up to date with what's happening with it. Someone could have posted "Sorry we're not doing it this month for these reasons."
I don't think she was trying to be offensive.
With the bride awards being the new and improved idea though this thread should probably just be closed and forgotten about now.

i do think Tinsel was a bit harsh by putting that. I'm not wanting to take sides. But the mods are giving up their personal time to not only run little extra bits like M.O.M, but they also make the forum a nice and tidy place for us all to discuss our weddings in and I think they deserve a lot of credit for what they do dor us all!

I think the Mods do a great job and for me I find the site very helpful and supportive without giving a prize for Member of the Month or Awards. I couldn't do what the Mods do, I haven't got the time, the energy or skin thick enough to deal with the negative comments that they sometimes have to face. I do think that some members on this forum deserve special recognition for the advice they give as some of it is pure gold. If there is a Member of the Month prize then does this meant the Mods are exempt? I ask because some of the most frequently helpful members are Mods. x
