I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for ways to ask maids/maid of honour? I was to do something other than verbally asking them, to maybe create something that is special and they can keep. I don't want to spend a huge amount on it.
Thank you!

I just sent mine cards through the post - they weren't expecting them so was a nice surprise. I went for a slightly funny method, the cards said "I need someone to hold my dress whilst I pee..." on the front, then inside "Will you be my bridesmaid?" It wasn't a grand gesture but it is something they can keep forever, and was cheap to do.

I got my girls little boxes which contained a balloon and a safety pin, they popped the balloon to reveal a little rolled up note which said will you be my bridesmaid they were only £3 and the girls loved them xx

I verbally asked 3 of mine but the 4th was a late decision so I thought I'd do something a bit better for her. I got a card that said, plan with me, laugh with me, cry with me, stand with me on the outside and will you be my bridesmaid on the inside. I went to see her and handed her the card without saying anything, she looked so confused but opened it and started crying, jumped up and gave me a hug. It wasn't much but her reaction was amazing :) wish I'd have done it with the other 3!
Got together on 14th March 2010

I did cards with a similar phrase to Flossie and wrote a personal message to each one inside. I invited them round to dinner and gave them after we finished eating, then had to find the tissue box really quickly when they started crying. It was very sweet.
My OHs SIL was given a balloon when she was asked by her brothers fiancee, but it was the opposite to Sarah Ds. Instead she had to blow it up and it had the message "will you be my bridesmaid?" written on it. X
I sent them messages in a bottle, I got them of the bay xx

Wow some of these ideas sounds so lovely. I just gave mine a card saying 'will you be my bridesmaid' which seems a little dull now in comparison to some of these lol.

I plan on buying mine a cute costume ring and a box and sticking in the lid the question "he popped the question, now its my turn...will you be my bridesmaid" :)

that's honestly not a good reason to un-ask her. You're getting married and will have your own life soon. She just started a new chapter of her life as well. Don't be so self-centered. just because everyone has their own life too will that make you not friends anymore? Sounds like an insecure weak view on friendship. If it's important to you that your friend be more of a part of your wedding in the planning stage then you should initiate it

How does the above comment even relate to anything in this thread? It's about asking bridesmaids, not un-asking them?!

She seemed to have a lot to say for herself based on very little evidence...

???!!!
Melissa - as I was only having 1 bridesmaid - my sister- I wasn't very creative and just asked her. In hindsight, I wish I'd done it a little differently!!
