I don't know if I have this in the right category (consider my wrist slapped if it is!)
I have decided on my two bridesmaids that I would like, my two best and closest friends. I have over two years until the big day and was wondering when would be the right time to ask, I will be seeing them both later in the year so should I ask them then? it's better face to face than on the phone surely?
Can't wait until the day I become Mrs. Johnson :)

I would ask face to face when you next see them...I asked my bridesmaids as soon as I knew who I was having, and I still had a year and half to go. xx

face to face is nicer, we did both of ours face to face and its nice to see their reaction! one we said we really need to speak to you but not on the phone then we kept her hanging for a week before we met up with her to ask her face was a picture! the other we were out on a night out and just asked her in a pub full of people! she screamed the place down ahaha

God I feel like a rubbish friend now - I just sent a text to my MOH when we got engaged saying Barry had proposed and so not to make any plans until I'd set my date as she'd be needed there lol we'd already discussed it prior to the proposal anyway so she knew she'd be doing it. The other I was having a text conversation with about my wedding and I'd replied to a question about what dress I'd like saying she'd be one of the first to know as I wanted her there as a bridesmaid. Again I think it was expected so I didnt make a big deal of it x

I made cards for my BM's. I drew pictures of things that reminded me of them (one was a headless girl, holding her head in her arm for a mental health nurse. One was a gothic fairy, for my closet goth mate. And the other was a girl in a sari with the commonwealth games symbol - she was going to Dehli to cover the commonwealth games), I found a poem asking them to be my BM and I gave 2 their cards on their Bday and the other was given as a going away card. He he I ended up asking them at different times (all in the same month) And they each had a special card that was hand delivered so I could see their reaction.
I got a few tears and lots of hugs when I did this
Also would have wanted another BM - but she's got a lot on with her first baby so I have asked her to help be wedding co-ordinator, help with setting up, make sure everything is perfect and tell me that h2b has arrived so I can set off.
I'm now a married woman

We sent cards too. It went down so well and one BM has it permamently on her sideboard. I think u should ask sooner rather than later because u know who u want and they can get involved in all ur excitement. You don't want it to seem like u couldn't be bothered to ask them sooner or was really struggling to narrow ur bms down x

Thanks all, I don't get to see either of my friends that often as they live so far away. We keep in touch vua Facebook and email but that hardly seems the best method of asking them to BM!
I will see them in April/May so will ask them then, just hope they say yes lol!

I asked my MOH to be my MOH before we started planning the wedding. She would have been the only one i would have asked otherwise i would not have had a moh only Bms

I asked my 3 BM's all at the same time, I made them a card on moonpig, bought them a small bottle of wine and a small box of celebrations....it was great to see the reactions and then to start talking about the wedding!!

I am having 4 BM's and only 1 i asked face to face - MOH as she is the only one who lives close, the others are miles away and i had to ask them on the phone. I asked them about 11 months before

Definitely face to face, then you can see how happy they are to accept. And asking them well in advance is a good thing so they can keep that date free and research their duties, lol. Not sure if my MOH will still be able to do it for me now that we have brought the date closer, she works so much and only gets 2 weeks off a year, so fingers crossed. But have fun when it comes to asking, a very special moment between you and your close mates. xx
