I attended a friend's wedding ealrier this year and, although it didn't bother me as such, I did notice that there weren't any favours. We are having favouors, just because it's an extra bit of something to make my tables look nice lol

i only said i would mind because if you were contemplating doing fudge and then you didn't i'd be disappointed because i LOVE fudge! that said most guests wouldn't notice. i would never expect something very big for favours though - i always think some sort of food or sweet is best :) xxx

We're not having favours as such just little bags of Dorset Knobs on all the tables......they're local biscuits!

Can't wait until the day I become Mrs. Johnson :)

I would'nt mind not having favours as a guest at a wedding...but i do notice if there are some, especially if they are handmade or something special from the heart that means something.

I'm from Norway and there is no tradition for favours there, I mean it's YOUR day, why should you be giving people gifts? lol
I'm having a photobooth so ppl can take funny pictures in it on the day and walk away with a print as well as leaving one for us in a guestbook, that's enough of a "favour" if you ask me. Although we ARE having temp tattoos as favours because it goes with our theme, but only because we wanted something more "tattoo-ish".
I mean seriously, these people are getting free dinner, at times free alcohol and a great party-
on TOP of that you want me to buy you something just for giggles?!
    BAH
...sorry that almost turned into a rant lol

I personally like the idea of favours because it gives me chance to do something for the guests in that I'm doing special chocolates. But we're also having the cancer research favours because there are so many people in our families who have suffered from, or died of cancer that we think all the guests will appreciate the sentiment. I'd be a bit miffed if they got left behind, but like other people have said, they're for the charity so it doesn't really matter if they do

I am thinking of buying cheapy, but pretty jars or glasses from IKEA, then using chalkboard paint so each guest's name can go on them... can use them as both placenames and favours, and they are useful. I wouldn't class them as favours though, just an added bonus that guests can take them home, or leave them if they wanted to.

I wouldn't expect favours. My sister didn't have any-just a sweetie bar which was great and my cousin printed little cards which said they had made a donation to cancer research instead. :0)

Personally i've got little red and little white bags from ebay for 7p each and am filling them with sweets which is costing about 5p per bag so with 130 guests it's costing just under £16.

    Can't wait to be married!

I've voted that I wouldn't mind but I do notice when I've been to weddings and there hasn't been any favours...I just think it's nice...we're having them and my mum is making truffles. We're not spending a fortune but are putting every effort into them looking good. I personally wouldn't be bothered (as a guest as well as a bride) if the favours cost £10 or 10p each.

Wouldnt bother me in the slightest if i got a favour or not.
Some of the favours i have received in the past are:-
Sugared almonds wrapped in a little lace.
Little chocolates in either a little box or lace or pouch.
A little ceramic hand designed pot
    A CD
    A Mug
    Lotto ticket
    Nothing

It was nice seeing the favours. But more for interest than wanting the object/gift. I think i have been to 2 wedding with no favours. And that didnt bother me at all. I did notice that there was no favour. But i didnt mind.x

...... I voted no... it wouldn't bother me going to someone elses wedding and there not being one.

As for our wedding, I've thought a great deal about this and have come to the decision that going without would save a considerable amount of money. The only way I could see out of this is getting the head table some personalised favours. I think they are more likely to appreciate it more than 'that 3rd cousin once removed's boyfriend" would.

I don't think I would mind at all - a lot of people don't even take the favours home (which i think is a bit bad if someone has made the effort to do them). I'm combining my favours with my place settings buying wooden hearts off ebay and painting them ivory and then painting the guests name on them. works out about £35 for 100! But fudge sounds like a fab idea if he's willing!

Ive voted no. All people are different if they want favours they will have them if not they wont. Im sure guests wouldnt mind i know i wouldnt. I made my own favour boxes some guest's never got theirs, some people had the sweets out of them and left the box to be thrown away and some actually did take their boxes home with them as a keepsake of the wedding so its entirly up to you if you have them or not x

We're having heart themed sweets in red glass heart shaped bowls on the tables. People can help themselves. At weddings I usually take the favours, bubbles or other freebies home for my boys so not bothered if they are there or not.

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest. We didn't have any at ours - having already spent loads on the wedding providing food, drink and entertainment, it would have been an extra cost to our already tight budget! I have been to weddings where they had favours and others where they didn't have any and Personally I don't think it matters.
