Is anyone using, or thinking of using artificial flowers at their wedding? Saw a great website for artificial flowers in terms of price. Worried they won't look as good though but much easier on the purse and great for keepsakes. Any ideas on advantages and disadvantages of artificial flowers? Has anyone used them? I'm thinking of silk roses for my wedding but don't want it to look naff :)

I'm having foam flowers. If you go to hobbycraft, thy have the flowers there so you can see and feel them. That's what I did :)
CommentAuthorKimbo
Great thanks :) Are you getting them in advance of your wedding or delivered/ collected on the day? Thinking of storage if got them earlier to fix them up a bit with ribbons and stuff.

I'm using velvet roses (which i have just ordered from the states) so will put some pics up when i get them. Am hoping i have ordered enough to make a bouquet, 3 baskets, half a dozen button holes and ditto on the corsages

i've seen some great artifical flowers in a ball on a ribbon at a wedding fair, probably getting them for the flower girls. they willl look great on the photos and i think that will be the main issue.
there are a lot of realistic fake flowers out there - my mom has to feel the leaves on most of then to check whether they are real or not.
think you should be fine

I bought silk flowers from an online wholesaler and made my flowers and and 3 bridesmaid flowers, including holders and glue gun for about £30ish. I have just ordered some bits to make buttonholes as well! Venue are providing flowers there, fresh for top table which will be at the ceremony as well and fake for the other tables...that is if we can get them how we want them - red and black!!

I used artificial flowers for my centrepieces- which ws great as I could have them the exact colour I wanted! Plus, at the end of the reception people took the centrepieces (large artificial flowers in tall vases) home with them and have them in their homes- we have one in the middle of our dining room table.

Artificial. I have made my own bouquets, table decorations, button holes, fairy wand for flowergirl, and trees. They are all ready and the wedding isnt until June. I have some pictures and everyone I have shown thinks they look really real!

I've already got my flowers tucked away in the wardrobe for next year. They are foam roses and they look lush. I love them. I never thought I would have fake but after seeing how good the roses were I fell in love with them and love the fact I can keep them forever. They were also over hald the price of the florist. I'm going to spray them with rose water on the day so they even smell real.

I'm so happy that so many other people are going for artificial flowers, I've been thinking about doing the same because I want specific flowers and they're not all going to be in bloom at the time of the wedding so artificial is the ony way.
Please can people post websites/places they've got them form on my wall? I've been to a florisits but was disapointed in how fake they looked :(

Zoe I can't write on your wall unless you add me as a friend but if you look on my wall you will find somewhere in there a link for my flower lady. She was a florist until she had her kids then decided to go into artificial. She does both silk and foam and has done a fab job of my flowers. She is honest with you and will tell you if she thinks they look real or not when she goes to the wholesalers if you are wanting something that she doesn't usually do. I've had foam roses with diamantes in all of them.

Am having leather roses done in a mix of our colours. That way they can be kept as a reminder of the day. For the tables we are having bowls (like goldfish bowls lol) with lights and/or some flowers in them.

I've added you!

I was really unsure as I love real flowers but as my wedding is november choice was limited and I really wanted yellow cymbidium orchids that were just extortionately priced.... I found a company in australia that specialised in silk orchids and they did a bespoke bouquet for me and my 2 bridesmaids and shipped them here for a quarter of the price of the real ones, Im absolutely thrilled with them they are beautiful!
