    Hi girls,

My H2b is in the army and we currently rent privately which is costing us an absolute fortune!! I must say I can't wait to get married and able to live in married quarters and save ourselves over £500 a month in rent! I have a few friends who have gone down the quick and easy wedding route to get a house quicker with a plan to have a big "wedding" at a later date! I personally don't agree with doing it that way and even though we'll be skint for another year until the wedding I would rather wait and have my big, fancy wedding for real :-)

But i'm wondering are there any army wives or brides to be out there? I'm wanting to know how far in advance before the wedding you normally get your quarter? I know one couple who had it 2 weeks before and another had it a month before. My h2b is actually due posting in january and we don't know if we need to move yet. I wonder if we get the right area and butter the right person up we could get a married quarter 8 months b4 the wedding to save us finding somewhere to rent in the meantime??

not an army wife but from a services background. it will all depend on what houses are available in the area that you are moving to and the staff that work in housing. some can be more flexible than others! x

When i married my ex we didnt get a house for 2 weeks after we were married due to a shortish and then it was in the middle of no where :-( we said yes as it was either that or wait a year to live together. (it was a lovely little house tho lol)

When I married my ex we went straight to N Ireland, and moved straight in.The rents great, but you wont enjoy the marchout! Getting into every nook and cranny with a toothbrush in places you didnt know existed when you move out is no fun! But,I really loved army life, although mine was never posted where I couldnt go.We just went to ireland and germany before he got out.Germany had a top flat with balcony overlooking trees and a little church. We were the 1st ones to live there too! Hope you get a nice one one day!Best of luck for the future!x

bets of luck babe ...i was a navel wife for 17years and we never live in MQ....the restrictions of what you can/cant do are emense .....having to ask for permission before you decorate etc ...oh and dont even think of attaching anything to the walls

Thanks guys, looks like il just have to wait n see it seems timescales very quite a lot based on availability
Navy housing sounds a lot stricter tho as i have a lot of friends in army housing n theyre allowed to decorate n hang whatever they want just as long as the house is put back in its original state when it comes to marchout time :-)

we are getting married sept 22nd and they have offered us our house 17th sept. they wont sort out our daughters school though until we are actually married. we applied for a certain area of houses but the army have offered us somewhere else..luckily its lovely and alot better than where we applied. only thing is, we havent had a choice...they basically sent us a letter with the address on and all the small print rules etc... we have to go and look at it 17th sept and if we accept they give us the keys there and then. x
