I've done a rough guest list for ceremony and meal. Including me and groom (and photographers) it comes to 104.
I'm guaranteed to have missed people.
The hall only holds 120 people and MIL wants to invite some of the churchy people. ARGH
I don't really want them there at my ceremony SIMPLY because I don't know them and some of them scare me, but I can't say anything because MIL says so and H2B will bow to it :/

Well why dont you say you havn't got room? Afterall your guest list is already at 104, and you think you have missed some people. You may not have the room to invite MIL church friends anyway?

They're not just MIL's friends though, they have watched H2B grow up and they are all nice people, I just don't know them well enough :s
And I already said to her that it might be alright :(

We are in a similar situation, we can only have 40 people for the day, 20 from my side and 20 from h2b side. MY step dad is from a large family of 13, and they all have large families of their own now too. We decided not to invite them to the day, just the evening as it wouldnt be fair to pick favourites lol, and we just didnt have the space to invite them all, everyone understood when we explained it. Its not like they are being left out completely, they are still coming to the evening party xx

Tbh we're having an open invite to the ceremony and invitees only to the reception and evening party - personally I'd much rather get married in a church full of people as a public declaration and also the people you're not too familiar with can still see you getting married? Of if it's really a problem and you need more space then look at alternative venues or ask about expanding the space e.g. with a marquee etc.
