We are getting married at 4pm, I wasnt happy with that at first...the wedding coordinator suggested it as we can only afford an evening buffet and she was very persuasive...but i came round to the idea and have been happy with it since then. But we went to h2bs dads wedding in april and it lasted 6 hours from ceremony til evening reception, ok they had a sit down meal but me and h2b are now really freaking out that we havent got enough time to get married, have photos, do the speeches and have my neice sing for us before 7pm when our evening guests will be arriving :-( BUT, because we're not having a sit down meal if we changed it to any earlier would people be sat around bored waiting for the buffet! Im stuck! but need to make my mind up coz if we decide to change the timings its got to be ASAP! Any opinions are really appreciated! xxx

i personally think if your not having the meal then 4pm should be fine, tell your photogropeher of this to ensure that the most important shots are done 1st so if there was any time overlaps (i dont think there would be) then you got the definate ones. it might be a good idea to have the speeches during the serving of food for the evening party it might be fun having more people there too laugh and enjoy them. dont fret it will be fine :)

I think you will have plenty of time to do all the things you want be do before 7pm. We are getting married at 3.20pm and not having a sit down meal and our guests are arriving at 7pm. The only thing we are doing different from you is not having someone singing. Is the ceremony at the same place as the reception or have you got to travel to reception?

we're having it all at one venue so thats a good thing. I know there is only going to be 2 speeches as my dad isnt doing one so that should cut a bit of time off too thanx for the reassurance guys sxx

It sounds fine hun if you're not having a sit down meal.
If you're having a civil ceremony at the venue, it'll be approx 30 mins, photos should take approx 1 hour (for you and new hubby, important group shots plus your day guests), speeches will be approx 30-40 mins and your niece singing won't be an hour will it? I'm sure you will be ok, don't worry xxx

We got married at 4pm Ziggy boo and it was fine. Service and photos were done by 5.15 (speedy and efficient photographer helped!), we went for a ride in the car (highly recommended as it gives you 10 minutes to get over the shock haha!) whilst our guests went to the reception.
A hour milling about and drinks, chatting etc at the reception venue. Help yourself buffet from 6pm which went down a storm as something to suit everyone, speeches were about 7.15. We cut the cake at 7.45, first dance straight after then 4 hours of hitting the dancefloor.
By midnight everyone was merry, had had a great day and ready to leave. We crashed out when we got back to the hotel as we were pooped (and H2B was drunk!)
Can't wait to be married!

We are getting married at half 3 and have to walk to the park for photos then to the reception and are planning on sitting down to eat at 6 and have the speeches then.
Why don't you have the speeches and singing after the evening guests have started to arrive.
