Right! We do not have a venue for our evening reception but have had plenty ideas!

I feel that the cheapest thing we can do is book a hall out close to the church and get my uncle to do the catering!

My h2b said hed text a few people telling them we are planning an engagement party!

He had a reply asking him when we were getting married etc then started on about a place just outside where we live.

I thought he was meaning this as an engagment party venue and was listening away then he said "i know you want it at that hall but this way more people from here will come!"

This would also mean that we would have to put on more transport. A group from my work will need to rearrange accomodation as they all can stay with someone who lives close to my parents who works with us.
And well myy family will have to all arrange accomodation when the wouldnt have before!!

ARGH i dont know what to do!

I understand hes thinking about that more people would come. But then if these people he is thinking about are his friends etc they would make it wouldnt they?
Most would have to head out the way to the church and we would put on transport to get some people out to the venue and back home if needed!

I just feel that we chose something and he gets given another idea and wants to do that instead!

I know we still have plenty time but its just annoying!

Where are the places you are considering and how far are they from your church? I wouldnt worry if people have to book accommodation as most guests including family tend to have to nowadays for a wedding. My hubbys family are from Livingston and so they and a few others travelled up here to stay at the hotel venue and drove out to the church we got married in. Also most guests stayed over at the hotel so that they could drink even if they lived only a couple of miles or so from the venue. xx

The one closest to the church is only a 5 minute drive where the one my h2b is talking about now is 30min drive!

this would also add to time before the wedding breakfast and take time away from photos at our photo location.

A group of work mates had worked out accomodation for the day for free and my parents could have some people staying also.

Ah I see what you mean now. We got married in Kintore Church, our wedding reception venue was 20mins drive away at the Airport Thistle Hotel in Dyce and we had some of our photos taken at Craibstone Estates which was on the way in to the reception venue. So thats why most of our guests booked accommodation at the hotel.

Have a chat with h2b and work out the positives and negatives of going for the local hall or the venue he is thinking of and see what is best for all concerned including yourselves. xx

Keig is near Alford isnt it so I can understand why you would prefer having the reception at the hall nearby. The only venues i know on South Deeside Road are Ardoe House Hotel. The Old Mill Inn and Maryculter House Hotel. xx
