Next year will be my year to get back onto the fund raising. I was part of a calendar for testicular cancer a few years back, actually managed to get RS (a suplier on here) as the venue for the shoot. It was fab.

I've just read all the way through this thread and can't stop drooling over you venues/menus etc! Love it!
Croc I am sooooooo jealous of your connection to J.C - he makes me laugh so much, I always read his books in the gym on the bike lol.

Kind of on the wrong side of the world atm to look at venues, but I can't wait to look round this summer - make sure I get my date! Atm I'm in love with Northbrook Park - I adore stately homes, but most of the ones around me are too gold and guilded (if that makes sense!) for my taste :) Photos are in my album if anyone fancies a nose lol.

Also all of our friends/hometowns are within 30 mins drive, along the dual carriageway from winchester to alton, which is 10 mins from that venue also along that road. So i'm thinking it would be good to hire a couple of coaches to pick everyone up in the centre of Winch/Alresford/Alton and drop them home? Have any of you looked at that? Is it more hassle than it's worth in the end?

So excited by this thread :) xx

Krazykitty - sounds like you have a big budget to me. I am exactly the same where I try and get as much as I can for my money, but I have a long list of must have's for the wedding. For example instead of hiring the men's black patent shoes at £15 (there's 10 of them) I found a person on bay of e yesterday who was selling them for £3.99 a pair with £4.50 p&p. I emailed them and asked if they would do combined postage and they said they would charge me £10 p&p for 6 pairs. So instead of it costing me £90 for the 6 pairs I needed to hire, I've paid £34.00 and I will sell them back on bay of e, after the wedding. I get such a buzz when I get a bargain.

Flipping heck that's good, I haven't got round to any of that yet. I made cards to ask my bridesmaids and even though I was really really with how they turned out, I actually got so angry making them and even ripped some of them up in temper. I want to make my own invites but if I got that bad over a few cards, imagine what kind of psychopath I will end up. My other half just laughs because I'm such a drama queen.

These venues look gorgeous. Will have to add mine in a min. Tinsel if you can get the SQ it will be fab to have you walk down the aisle to them... would be sooo magical. my mil2b worked on h2b and he came around and we booked them from 11.30 until 5pm. Could he not just let you have them for the ceremony?

Hi guys, I don't know if I am classed as a BBB, I thought I was spending a fortune but looking at you guys things has made me think again - everything looks gorgeous on here. It has made me feel not so bad about the amount I am spending (getting it in the chin from the inlaws a bit, saying why are we spending so much money on one day etc etc you know the script)

I'm not on a small budget put it that way, we're having what we (mainly me) wants and using our own hard earned cash but compromising in some areas (I only paid £400 for my dress) - but my venue is costing a lot just because I've invited 120 people all day and 200 in the evening.

My other luxury is my string quartet, I didn't care how much that cost because I love it.

And we've went a bit crazy on the honeymoon - when she was offering us room upgrades etc and first class seats Dave just said lets go all out this one time, so we went for the lot. I've taken on a second job for now so we won't get into any debt.

Have been loving the planning of it all x

His group has played at loads of weddings. They mainly do outside the Church as the guests are arriving. At first I thought it was a joke, but its true. Think it is more about a "talking" point!

Jo - I have seen Croc's creations and they have melted me inside. I am normally very creative, but it seems for myself, I just "cant do it" I have wasted more money, trying things out that I care to think about (being almost bed-bound I have turned into a net shoppaholic and been ordering crafty bits here there and everywhere)

I really want to bling my own shoes but I have a feeling I will end up spoiling them :-(

I know what you mean as I'm not always mobile myself. My h2b had to finished off the invites for me as I couldn't get them done which gutted me a little as he used a little too much glue and some of the ribbon is a bit wonky but I guess it isn't the end of the world.

I'm just about to set up shop buying craft items at wholesale price so may be able to get some bits a little cheaper than if you were to buy normally. Just depends on what you want. I'm going to make up DIY kits that are fail safe for brides that want to do their own but don't have the confidence. I think I will be able to sell them for a decent price too meaning that I can cater for all budgets. The h2b had a good idea the other day as I didn't want brides to feel bad about their budgets so he suggested names for the ranges like Chelsea, Kensington and Mayfair. (He does have some good ideas!)

I can't make them all myself with my health but figure that this could really take off if I can do some decent designs that don't cost the earth and are easy to reproduce. I know brides think that DIY is cheaper but it isn't always by the time they buy all the bits in, make mistakes etc.

yes the sq will move where ever you want them to. Ours said they are truely flexible and will move to where the guests are, be that inside the venue or outside.
